The YSS Mazu is a Takumi-Class Expeditionary Command Cruiser in the First Expeditionary Fleet of the Star Army of Yamatai. It was commissioned in YE 30.

In YE 29, Taisa Todd Mazu perished during the Battle Of Taiie. The long time hero captain was killed in the line of duty by the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX). The ending of that battle resulted in Melisson destroying the entire system with her new Shlarvasseroth-class Flagship. The loss of life, including the Taisa, was astronomical.¹⁾ One of the first Takumi-Class Expeditionary Command Crusiers built was in remembrance of him.²⁾

The YSS Mazu was constructed in YE 30 and it was one of the first of the Takumi-Class Expeditionary Command Cruiser class, along with it's sister ship, the YSS Yanagi.³⁾ The ship's first mission involved defending the newly colonized Jiyuu III from the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) along with the YSS Asamoya.⁴⁾⁵⁾ Command of the ship was given to Taisa Motoyoshi Kiyoko.

In YE 30 the YSS Mazu and it's entire attached battlegroup escorted Taisho Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko to Yamatai (Planet) to defend the Motoyoshi Bakufu's position from accusations of the Senate of Yamatai. She defended the Tange in their argument for the Proposal #76 - Military Decentralization Act after she was manipulated by Motoyoshi Misato and Tange Amaya.⁶⁾

Soon after that, Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko became Empress after her confrontation with Emperor Kitsurugi Uesu. Katsuko believed that issures regarding the status of the Yugumo Clusterhad been put rest, unfortunately she would find out she was mistaken. The YSS Mazu returned to Jiyuu III, but soon after the Tange along with Motoyoshi Kiyoko and Motoyoshi Tio took the ship without authorization from Hotaru Star Fortress. After the unauthorized departure, the YSS Mazu, under the command of Motoyoshi Kiyoko, arrived at Great Lighthouse. The Tange finally made their move and had Motoyoshi Kiyoko try to kill Taisho Ketsurui Yui. Katsuko sent the not even completed The Akuro III, under the command of Motoyoshi-Igarashi Yuka to support Taisho Ketsurui Yui from the traitors of her own clan. The The Akuro III launched a full assault on the ship. The result was the YSS Mazu was severely damaged and nearly destroyed but Motoyoshi Kiyoko and her crew died in the attempt. ⁷⁾

Motoyoshi Saito became Taisho of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet and ordered Himitsu Star Fortress to rebuild the YSS Mazu battle group⁸⁾. The YSS Mazu's wreck was salvaged⁹⁾¹⁰⁾ by the SRSS Yggdrasill in YE 33. The YSS Mazu was repaired by the depot for Third Expeditionary Fleet in YE 33¹¹⁾.

In YE 33 instead of using the repaired YSS Mazu as the Seventh Fleet's flagship, Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko decided to use the YSS Densetsu¹⁴⁾. The Mazu ended up in the Third Expeditionary Fleet until that fleet was disbanded YE 33. As a consequence, the YSS Mazu sat in mothballs at the Nataria Fleet Depot until YE 41 when it was transferred to the new First Expeditionary Fleet roster, which was being rebuilt by Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko.

In YE 43, the Mazu was deployed with the First Expeditionary Fleet to the Scrapyard System with the intention of its participation with the fleet in the Battle Of Glimmergold. During the battle to reclaim the Scrapyard System, the YSS Mazu detected the The Akuro III fleeing the system with Baron Gello Kordoon's flagship. The YSS Mazu and the YSS Sakura II were ordered to pursue. ¹⁵⁾ Motoyoshi Kaoru and Akamaru Datenshi were then able to reclaim the The Akuro III and killed Motoyoshi Kiyoko.

The YSS Mazu then returned to Gemini Star Fortress, and the ship put through an extensive overhaul and refit. This made the ship the first prototype of the 2A version of the Takumi-Class Expeditionary Command Cruiser.

Mission 1.1 - Just More Questions¹⁷⁾

• Mission 1.1 - The investigation of the crashed ship ends up revealing that the War Masters of Illion capture species and makes them fight each other. They found find out that the War Masters of Illion were also working with the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) which furthered their acquisition of victims. In comparing specimens found in the crash, the crew of the YSS Mazu determine that the Becurn System was one of the war entertainment venues for the War Masters of Illion .

Mission 2.0 - Pearl and Engine/Battle Of Becurn¹⁸⁾

• Mission 2.0 -While studying the victims of the War Masters of Illion Cemlae and Mocaidins in the Becurn System, the YSS Karasu Gin of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet is attacked by the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX). Answering the distress call the YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City holds the system, but sustains heavy damaged being out-gunned and out-numbered by the enemy. Thankfully ships from the United Norian Imperium, Iron Company, the YSS Mazu, and the YSS Yukika II arrive in the system. The crew of the YSS Yukika II daringly board one of the new [faction:mishhuvurthyar:smx]] Asthlacthu-Class Gunship. Successfully fighting their way through ship, while their other crewmates held system until reinforcements arrived.
