The Star Army began using an area on the airless planet of Scrapyard as a disposal and storage site sometime between YE 30 and YE 32 and in YE 32, a Frontier Starport was built on the surface.

From YE 33 to YE 37 Yamatai allowed Freespacers the ability to recycle to old ship hulls as a means of showing goodwill towards them. Freespacers were able to use the hulls to build ships like the "Divine Comedy" State-Issue Ayame. This program ended at the start of YE 37 due to lack of participation and concerns that the ships might fall into the hands of the Independent Worlds League.

The Yamatai Star Empire placed a global communications network of Emrys Satellites into orbit in YE 36.

In YE 36, this planet became part of the PAINT public transportation system and has a Tenba that regularly visits and provides passenger flights to Shinjuku Starport on Hanako's World.

In YE 40, this system was targeted by the Kuvexian Military as part of a multi-pronged invasion. The YSS Sakura II led the Third Squadron in assisting in its defense.

In YE 41, the facility was renamed from Star Army Scrapyard to the Sakura Fleet Depot in honor of the YSS Sakura II and began using the base as a fleet depot and starship recycling center. At this time, Shôshô Honda Noriko was assigned as the depot commander. Also that year, the starport got a pizza place, the Kikyo Pie Company.

In YE 42, during the Kuvexian War, Scrapyard System was attacked by the Kuvexian Military as part of the Kuvexian Advance of YE 421). Cosmos Star Fortress was destroyed and Sakura Depot was captured.

In 1月 YE 43, Star Army and allied forces recaptured Scrapyard and Sakura Fleet Depot prior to the Battle Of Glimmergold.
