Usually buried behind computer screens and mountains of data pads, or slouching comfortably in the pilot's seat of a starship: Emilio has a lanky build. Of course he has that distinctly 'Man +' appearance of all Geshrin where the definition of 'lanky' tends to change. In essence he looks as if he visits the gym just often enough to work comfortably on a cargo-ship but not so often as to actually waste the time getting a membership card. His hair is a deep black and he likes to keep it shaggy, or really he just doesn't bother to chase after it much and just lets it hang over his ears. His face is oval-shaped with almond-shaped green eyes and a clean-shaven chin. Old age hasn't even come close to showing itself on his features yet.

His attire goes one of two ways depending on where you catch him. When in the public eye he prefers to hide himself under hoodies and baggy jeans, with a few datapads and a computer on hand in a simple carry-case. When he is in privacy such as aboard the ship, he often walks around in little more than a simple T-Shirt and shorts and treats the place as if its his home instead of a duty station or assignment. Both personal space and respect of his image are obviously not his priorities since he so often keeps himself behind a screen or in a cockpit when he has a say in the matter.

The only distinguishing feature that he can most commonly be seen with is a single ring piercing in his left ear. Hidden under his typical clothing is a tattoo done in black ink of a stylized sun on his right shoulder, transforming into a half-sleeve of a fictional star-scape that stops just above his elbow.

Emilio is incredibly intelligent, handy with a computer or flight controls, and possesses all the social smoothness of crunchy peanut butter.

He's intelligent enough to know how to handle himself and he was raised around ships enough that he feels far more comfortable moving through tight-packed halls than crowded city-streets. And while he's always willing to add to a conversation, its almost never uninvited and if he isn't addressed or doesn't feel its pertinent then he'll often keep to himself verbally. He's guarded beyond that and generally only trusts people as far as he can see them being useful to him after years of dealing with criminals in the information brokering crowd.

What you know is almost as useful as who you know and where that is concerned he plays his cards close to his chest. He's eager to learn of those around him and does his best to mask it: collecting information on their secrets and troubles for potential use in the future. Everything he can learn without giving something away is another edge in a seemingly endless game of buying and selling secrets. And even if the 'gracious' Yamataian government has offered him an out, that doesn't mean he has to give up all of his old habits just yet.

Emilio was born was born on a station in orbit of Yamatai (Planet) in YE 10 a few years after the plague of what is quickly becoming 'old' history.

His father was the station's senior systems administrator and his mother was absent: dead in a terrible accident before he was even two years old. That was the sort of risk that came with working as one of the station's senior-most technicians and micro-gravity qualified personnel. He was the youngest of two children with his elder sister being two years his senior. And while they were sans their mother with a father tasked with raising two children, between life insurance and their father's income the family lived a relatively comfortable life on their orbiting home. So how was it that he went from that relatively stable life to one that had him drawing the ire of law enforcement?

Alcohol, mostly. It has a fun way of destroying families when a man's father turns to a bottle for his grief.

Physical abuse helps speed those sorts of things along, too.

A hostile home-life had Emilio burying himself in school and bookwork while seeking the darker social circles to vent and de-stress. It wasn't his dad's money that sent him to college but instead his own efforts and finances. While studying computer sciences he learned the marketability of being able to gain access to systems one wasn't supposed to see into. Of course it started small back then with simple things: grading sheets and the test answers for a class, in exchange for a few handfuls of credits. Then some of those greasy and tough types he spent so much time around passed words to their friends in local gangs and crime-rings and soon other simple requests came his way in exchange for a healthy sum of credits. Things like the roster of a bank's security team, the transit schedule of a company's local offices, and things like that.

The first jail sentence came four weeks after his graduation when authorities tracked a drug deal to he and several others. A few years behind the bars came as a result of it but the warden and guards wouldn't be able to turn him around despite their best efforts. Oh of course he put on a good enough act and had them convinced he turned a leave, but it wasn't a month outside those prison bars that he'd set to work on his criminal record once again.

Over the last several years he's helped arrange the contracts of mercenaries, assassins, drug dealers, and smugglers. He's acquired bank account information and insider tips on the Nepleslian stock market to be sold off to the highest bidder. He's been arrested three times in total now, never for any of his more serious offenses, and its landed him something in the area of six years total in prison. Of course none of the rehabilitation has ever stuck for very long and his clients have never had to wait too long before he was back online and at work.

But recently he slipped up. He knows exactly where, too. A rookie mistake of chasing after what should have been an obvious bait.

When SAINT brought him in he was given the choice between working with them to have his record scrubbed clean, or being executed.

In his defense: he thought about it, first.

• Emilio is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from others through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. He is fluent in Trade, Yamataigo (邪馬台語), and the Freespacer Languages. He is capable of reading and writing in all of them with enough clarity and efficiency to fill out reports, converse, or give orders in any circumstances.

• Emilio has been trained in intensive hand-to-hand combat, coupled with grueling physical fitness training. He is skilled and capable of fighting in Yamatai-like conditions or micro-gravity, armed or unarmed. His weapons training includes training and familiarization in the Yamataian arsenal as well as in several more foreign weapons systems, knives, explosives, and power armor.

• Emilio is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information. Beyond that he's incredibly talented at both encrypting and defeating the encryptions employed by others, 'dabbling his fingers' as he would say in others' systems. He's been trained and is familiar with more conventional operating the systems of Yamatai's bordering nations such as Nepleslia and others. Given enough time and resources he'd likely be able to work his way through most such systems if he hasn't worked with them before.

• Emilio has been educated in basic mathematics, algebra, and trigonometry by the courtesy of the Yamatai public school systems to the standards which that infers. He's also trained and experienced in the more advanced mathematical formulas that come with starship operation and interplanetary travel and both atmospheric and micro-gravity flight. Not to mention the troubling work that comes with the transition between those two states that is so often overlooked by the less informed.

• Emilio has been put through intensive training to become familiar with the operation and function of the various vessels of the Star Army of Yamatai. This also carries over into the basics of understanding how to operate more civilian-oriented vessels, as well as the less specialized military vessels and more general systems of foreign military forces such as the Nepleslians. He can read system read-outs, conduct basic damage control and maintenance on general systems, and reliably function as a member of the general crew. His training also included being able to recognize the general classes and fleet structures of the more powerful nations around Yamatai.

• While he is no master mechanic of any measure, Emilio has been trained in the basics to know his way around a starship's systems. He can conduct general repair and preventative maintenance when given the proper time and tools. With enough proper equipment and time he can even diagnose and solve more serious issues, or at the very least stabilize and handle them well enough to limp the ship to the nearest friendly port to be seen to and repaired.

• He's never tried to work on the streets and get his hands dirty, but sometimes you don't have a choice when you keep the company of criminals and scum. Emilio can slip a datapad from a pocket if he is so inclined, he's dislocated his thumbs to slip from cuffs more than once, and he knows some of the “thieves' cant” of Yamatai that so lovingly refers to the slang of Yamataian criminals. He's a bit out of the loop on the numbers but he could probably help estimate the price of a quality organ or military explosives on the black market and he certainly knows at least a few respectable contacts in the criminal underworld.

• Started first as a hobby to improve dexterity and then expanded as part of his cover with SAINT, Emilio is most proficient with the acoustic guitar but has since proven to be a capable electric and bass player. He practices and knows the notes to several more popular Yamataian and Nepleslian songs. He's able to parse some notes from only hearing them without a sheet to reference and is talented enough to pick up, tune, and play a guitar as a means to pass the time or entertain others. To a lesser extent he's dabbled in other common string instruments as well.

• As a member of SAINT, Emilio has been trained in a variety of fields of knowledge. He has been trained and educated on the ins and outs of the laws of the SAoY and the empire as a whole, both concerning citizens and foreign entities. He's also been trained and educated on the finer points of espionage and counter-espionage: finding and establishing contacts, how to set up things such as dead-drops, tailing, and other things. And on top of that he was run through unforgiving interrogation training and desensitization courses as part of his training to make him capable of enduring a great deal before he'd ever break and to inflict the same on others in kind.
