In YE 28.1, the Galaxy Expeditionary Group was formed under the orders of Taisho Kessaku Irim.¹⁾ The Taisho selected the then Taisa Motoyoshi Katsuko to lead Transuniversal Operation to another universe. While in the other universe, the group engaged the Venus Hive and won its first engagement.²⁾The month long expedition was successful and in YE 28.2 Taisho Kessaku Irim ordered the group back to the Kagami Galaxy.³⁾

Upon return to the Kikyo Sector, the Galaxy Expeditionary Group became the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet.⁴⁾ In that same month the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet as assigned a mission to Ahmar to make first contact with the Abwehran Star Empire prior to the NSS Destiny.(Mission 001) Motoyoshi Katsuko was promoted to Shôshô for her leadership during the Transuniversal Operation.The fleet was also the first to be part of the Starship Improvement Program, a project dedicated to the upgrade and improvement of Star Army of Yamatai ships.⁵⁾

In YE 28.1¹⁰⁾ The mission assigned the new fleet was to make first contact with the Abwehran Star Empire.The fleet reached the Jaspis and first contact was successful. Shôshô Motoyoshi Katsuko met with Kommodore Leah Alder. Following a short war game, the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet returned to the Taiie.¹¹⁾ Following this mission Motoyoshi Katsuko was promoted to the rank of Chujo with acting rank of Taisho by Taisho Ketsurui Yui.¹²⁾

The Fifth Expeditionary Fleet selected the Bard Cluster as their new area of operations. It was then that Taiie became the Headquarters for the fleet and other colonies were established in the region.

In YE 28.8, the YSS Akuro took on new crew members. Some worth mentioning that became important to the fleet's history are:

Under the orders of the then Shimizu Akina, the 17th Kasairyuu Power Armor Wing rescues vital mission specialists from a downed shuttle on Taiie IV. This mission, Corro Adlich is in command of the 17th Kasairyuu Power Armor Wing. They were attacked by local fauna while searching for the specialists and several members of the team were taken to medical for treatment. The mission is a success and the specialists, save for a few, are rescued.²⁶⁾

Shosa Yoshike commits treason against the Star Army of Yamatai because she failed to qualify for a promotion²⁷⁾, and blames Chujo Motoyoshi Katsuko for it. Taking advantage of a dinner being held by the Chujo, she signals her supporters on other ships in the fleet and they attempt a mutiny. The crew of the YSS Akuro and the 17th Kasairyuu Power Armor Wing manage to stop Yoshike and restore order in the fleet. Chujo Motoyoshi Katsuko reports the failed mutiny to Taisho Ketsurui Yui who then in turn orders Motoyoshi Katsuko to ensure that news of the attempted mutiny does not reach other fleets.She also informs her that the order came directly from Emperor Kitsurugi Uesu.²⁸⁾

In YE 28.9, the colonization of Taiie IV proves to be a challenge for the fleet, and not just because of the fauna on the surface. Increased security in the fleet due to the threat from Parasite-Type Mishhuvurthyar and a failed mutiny²⁹⁾ wreaks havoc on the fleet's logistics. Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) and the crew of the YSS Akuro find solutions to the problem and regain control of the situation.³⁰⁾

The officers and crew of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet celebrate the successful colonization of Taiie IV. The first of many Katsuko-Class Colony Installation are delivered to the surface which completes the mission.³¹⁾ Motoyoshi Katsuko is promoted to Taisho by Taisho Ketsurui Yui. ³²⁾

Near the end of YE 29,Taisho Motoyoshi Katsuko requests the fleet's first Iori-Class Star Fortress³³⁾. Taisho Ketsurui Yui accepts the request and sends an Iori-Class Star Fortress NH-X5-01 to the Taiie. Upon arrival the fortress is named Taiie no Iori³⁴⁾.

With the Taiie System being built up and the exploration and colonization of the rest of what would become the Bard Cluster underway, Katsuko requested the allocation of a Iori-Class Star Fortress, NH-XF-01 which would be named Taiie no Iori, was approved by Taisho Ketsurui Yui. The fortress had to be pulled from storage at Nataria Fleet Depot and was moved to the Taiie System.³⁵⁾ After the allocation of the fortress, Katsuko submitted recommendations for the “1D” refit for the Chiharu-class Flagship to Taisho Ketsurui Yui and Star Army Research Administration. Katsuko an Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) produced two adult offspring, Motoyoshi Kiyoko and Motoyoshi Tio.

In early YE 29, Katsuko had Taii Suzuka Yukari transferred to the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet to be her Flag Aide. ³⁶⁾ A short time later, a tragic incident which involved Taiie no Iori occurred. A rouge element within Star Army Intelligence set out to kill Katsuko so they planted a malicious program which produced a sprite named 'Ichiro' onto the station. The station's KAMI infected many members of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet Nekovalkyrja which turned on loyalists and set out to murder them. During the conflict, Katsuko's lover Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) became infected and Katsuko was forced to kill her.³⁷⁾³⁸⁾ The death of Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) proved to be very traumatic for Katsuko, the event changed her forever.³⁹⁾ Taiie no Iori was rebuilt and renamed Akina no Iori in her honor. ⁴⁰⁾ As a result of the events that took place, Suzuka Yukari , transferred to the YSS Sakura.⁴¹⁾

• Battle of Murf

Following the incident at Taiie no Iori, the Battle of Murf took the lives of Corro Adlich and the crew of the YSS Namiko. In Katsuko's grief, she arranged for her own assassination.⁴²⁾ Chujo Koyanagi Mayumi took command of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet as a result of Katsuko's death. At the time it was believed that there was no backup and that Katsuko was lost forever. Taisho Ketsurui Yui and Princess Ketsurui Himiko both attended her funeral.⁴³⁾

In YE 29, The Taiie System at the time was the capital of the Bard Cluster, and was the Headquarters of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet. It was also the seat of power for the growing Motoyoshi Clan. Ut was attacked by the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX). The Shlarvasseroth-class Flagship, under the command of Melisson fired its transposition at the system's star which caused it to go Hypernova which resulted in the destruction of nearly everything in the Taiie System within a window of approximately fifteen minutes. Some civilian starships, shuttles, and other craft managed a narrow escape along with some of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet, which included Hotaru Star Fortress and Himitsu Star Fortress. The loss of life in the tragedy was astronomical.⁴⁴⁾

The start of the first ending.

Before her first death, Katsuko had contributed the plans of the Takumi-Class Expeditionary Command Cruiser, in her absence Taisho Koyanagi Mayumi took the finished schematics to Ketsurui Fleet Yards. One of the first ships produced was the YSS Yugumo, which would be given to her daughter Motoyoshi Kiyoko to command.⁴⁵⁾ The First Mishhuvurthyar War had turned sour for the Star Army of Yamatai and Katsuko was revived from a secret ST backup and returned to her place as Taisho of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet and commander of the YSS Akuro II in early YE 30. ⁴⁶⁾

Katsuko moved quickly to consolidate power in the Motoyoshi Clan she formed the Motoyoshi Bakufu under which the Motoyoshi clan and its tributaries formed a regional governance platform and initiated an effort to find a new home for the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet and survivors from the Taiie System and other colonies in the Bard Cluster that were now under Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) control.⁴⁷⁾⁴⁸⁾

Survivors from the Battle Of Taiie are taken to Pisces Station. The Zodiac-Class Star Fortress was still under construction and the station's PANTHEON system had not yet been installed. The station under the command of Taisa Marina Arisa is overwhelmed by displaced refugees of the First Mishhuvurthyar War, including those from Taiie. Through a series of unfortunate events and inexperience of the station's commander, refugees are subjected to improper living conditions, and some are murdered. The survivors from Taiie contacted the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet about the atrosities on the station. Taisho Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko responded and reported the incidents to Star Army Command. Taisho Kessaku Irim arrived at Pisces Station and arrested the station's commander.⁴⁹⁾

The Fifth Expeditionary Fleet began their search towards the galactic southeast and the Yugumo Cluster was discovered, explored and selected for colonization. During the efforts, Katsuko was contacted by Xiaah Harr'Ikke "Destiny" Tur'Lista, the leader of the Lorath Matriarchy. Destiny pleaded with Katsuko for her help to save the Lorath, which were under siege by the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX). At the time, the Lor was located in the Great Southern Nebula.⁵⁰⁾

While overseeing the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet operations in the Yugumo Cluster, Katsuko began her romantic and sexual relationship with Kage Yaichiro.⁵¹⁾ She also successfully kept her commitment to the Lorath Matriarchy and assisted them with the transposition of the Lor and a huge portion of their population into the Yugumo Cluster.^52)53)54)55) The colonization of the Yugumo Cluster was made a priority effort with deep concerns that the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) would try to attack the new colonies.⁵⁶⁾ It stretched the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet to its limits as supplies from the core of the Yamatai Star Empire kept being cut off due to the war. Assistance was offered from a surprising place when Sky Marshall Robert Davis and the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia.⁵⁷⁾ Katsuko used the opportunity to begin a direction for relations between the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia and Yamatai Star Empire. ⁵⁸⁾

The Tange Clan tributary of the Motoyoshi Clan with the assistance of Angelica, a Nightmare Type Mishhuvurthyar convince the Hanabusa Tributary (also part of the Motoyoshi Clan) to commit treason against the Yamatai Star Empire. Motoyoshi-Tange Misato influenced Hanabusa Tonsho to turn against Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko and defect to the NMX. Hanabusa Miho was killed trying to stop the defection when she tried to kill Motoyoshi-Tange Misato. It led to a festering relationship between the Tange Clan and Angelica to seed treason within the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet. ⁵⁹⁾

Hours before the defection of the Hanabusa to the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX),Motoyoshi Kiyoko was ordered by Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko to kill Hanabusa Miho, the leader of the Hanabusa pledge family and leader of the defecting parties. She also fired shots at Tange Misato and Yuriko Towa, the reason behind which is suspected to create confusion on the part of investigators but it has never been further looked into since the initial investigation.

The 17th Kasairyuu Power Armor Wing was reformed under Katsuko's direction, and command of it was given to Caine Ionoche⁶⁰⁾. She agreed to their temporary transfer to YC-28 to assist Star Army Intelligence with a fact-finding mission under the command of Helen Klein.⁶¹⁾

Taisho Ketsurui Yui ordered a combined attack on the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) at Jun System, Bizankro System and Valaad System. The Fifth Expeditionary Fleet was given the task of attacking the Bizankro System. ⁶²⁾⁶³⁾ During the preparations for the operation, Miyamoto Natsume a researcher at Chie Research Base contacted Katsuko to inform her that evidence had been found that the Mishhuvurthyar and the Nekovalkyrja share a common genome.⁶⁴⁾

Katsuko led the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet under orders to the Bizankro System but the attack was interrupted by Sky Marshall Robert Davis of the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia, he brought information that Melisson had a large fleet assembled outside of Delsaurian space. Melisson had communicated with them collaborating information that had been sent from Chie Research Base, including the fact that Emperor Kitsurugi Uesu and the PNUgen Corporation was responsible for the Great Plague of YE 08.⁶⁵⁾ In light of the new information the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet folded to the Yamatai Star System.⁶⁶⁾

Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko confronted the Emperor of the Yamatai Star Empire, Kitsurugi Uesu about the true origins of the Great Plague of YE 08. Uesu admitted his knowledge of the relationship between the Mishhuvurthyar and the Nekovalkyrja, as well as explained his role at PNUgen Corporation. He also explained that the Black Spiral had been in league with the Mishhuvurthyar.

Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko accused Kitsurugi Uesu of doing nothing to prevent the First Mishhuvurthyar War and the Emperor defended his position and reinforced the place of the Yamatai Star Empire in the Kikyo Sector. Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko suggested the throne should be handed to Ketsurui Himiko, but Kitsurugi Uesu gave the throne to her instead. ^67)68)69)70)

Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko announced that the Motoyoshi Clan tributaries would be consolidated into the Motoyoshi Clan under the Motoyoshi Name. The Tange Clan is very unhappy with this turn of events and begins to plot against Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko.⁷¹⁾ Oblivious of the Tange Clan's involvement in seeding treason in the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet, Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko appoints Motoyoshi-Tange Misato as the head of Star Army Intelligence.

Members of the Tange Clan, including Motoyoshi-Tange Misato began to work against Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko from within the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet. They target and successfully indoctrinate Katsuko's daughter Motoyoshi Kiyoko.

Under the influence of Melisson⁷²⁾, Tange Amaya⁷³⁾ the senator for the newly colonized Jiyuu System to suggest that the Yamatai Star Empire should open a diplomatic dialog with the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX). ⁷⁴⁾ Prince Motoyoshi Tio supported the Senator's request and their efforts led to the International Relations Conference of YE 30.⁷⁵⁾ This initiates romantic interest between Tio and the Senator. ⁷⁶⁾

The Tange Clan through these two accomplishments has influence over both Motoyoshi Tio and Motoyoshi Kiyoko.

Katsuko moved quickly when she became Empress of the Yamatai Star Empire. Her first attempt to bring change was in the proposal to form system defense fleets. The proposal was defeated by the Senate of Yamatai, but it showed her that the senate was too powerful when it came to the determination of Star Army of Yamatai policy. She felt that although the actions of the senators were noble that they were unqualified to make military decisions.⁷⁷⁾ So she called upon Taisho Ketsurui Yui for a better resolution. ⁷⁸⁾⁷⁹⁾ As a result of their meeting Katsuko made an Imperial Decree which made it so the senate could not interfere with the Star Army of Yamatai.⁸⁰⁾

Katsuko gave the command of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet was handed to Motoyoshi Saito. ⁸¹⁾

As the new Empress, Katsuko had to face a growing relationship between the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia and the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX), which resulted in Taisho Ketsurui Yui and the Star Army of Yamatai placing a blockade around Planet Nepleslia with hopes they would sign an actual treaty with Yamatai Star Empire.⁸²⁾

Katsuko addressed the Yamatai Star Empire and the entirety of the Kikyo Sector in her State of The Empire address. ⁸³⁾

Despite her rise to power, Katsuko felt very alone. As a result, she had the teddy bear she had given Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) moved out of storage which revealed a hidden data module with ST data held inside of it. She then ordered that her former lover be revived. ^84)85)86) The two became engaged⁸⁷⁾⁸⁸⁾ a short time later, and Katsuko promoted Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) and gave her command of the Fourth Fleet.⁸⁹⁾

The International Relations Conference of YE 30⁹⁰⁾⁹¹⁾.

Prince Motoyoshi Tio's attempt to bring diplomatic healing to relations with the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) turned sour at the Conference. The result was the failure of establishing any kind of meaningful resolution between the SMX and Yamatai, it was later claimed by Melisson that Tio's outburst towards her was what lead to the Second Mishhuvurthyar War.^{92) 93)}

Tio's flirtations with Tange Amaya continued throughout the summit.⁹⁴⁾

Following the conference's conclusion, Tio was responsible for deploying two Imperial Decrees to the Senate on behalf of his mother; The Draft on an Azorean Trade and Tourism Agreement⁹⁵⁾ and the Request to Make a Treaty with Nepleslia⁹⁶⁾.

During the Freespacer Massacre and Related Battles ⁹⁷⁾, which was partially driven by intelligence shared by Kage Yaichiro that the Freespacers intended to hack the Star Army of Yamatai. ⁹⁸⁾⁹⁹⁾ As a result, Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko contacted Ketsurui Yui¹⁰⁰⁾ to deploy the Star Army of Yamatai against the threat.^101)102)

The Tange Clan used this opportunity to deliver the first blow to Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko, they had Motoyoshi Kiyoko with support from the Lorath Matriarchy, the The Maras, and the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) interrupt the operation and attempt to assassinate Ketsurui Yui. The Star Army of Yamatai and Ketsurui Yui responded in force and the treasonous Motoyoshi Kiyoko was killed in the battle, her actions however would have an impact on Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko.^103)104)

In the aftermath of the International Relations Conference of YE 30, Tange Amaya and Motoyoshi Tio returned to the Jiyuu System. The Tange Clan's influence over the Colonies established in the Yugumo Cluster and the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet leads to the activation of Operation Freedom Cake. ¹⁰⁵⁾

In Operation Freedom Cake Tange Amaya and Motoyoshi Tio declare the independence of the colonies and officially forms the United Outer Colonies. The Tange Clan plays another hand in their quest to bring the downfall of Empress Motoyoshi Katsuko, they influence Koyanagi Mayumi to bring the corporation of the Motoyoshi Clan, Motoyoshi Fleet Yards along with the clan's financial holdings to the newly created United Outer Colonies.^106)107)

As a result of the betrayal Taisho Ketsurui Yui ensured that the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet ships were returned to the Yamatai Star Empire. The Fifth Expeditionary Fleet as disbaned.

Re-Establishment Of The Fifth Expeditionary Fleet was ordered in YE 44.7 by Taisho Ketsurui Yui and once again placed under the command of Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko. ^108)109)

In YE 44.7, Before the crews of the YSS Mazu and YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City officially formed, some of their future members gathered at Jiyuu-jo on Taisho Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko's Yacht, The Dream of Taiie. Their purpose was to share a meal and drinks together. Albert Steiner of the Iron Company and some of his associates joined them. However, the evening took an unexpected turn when a brief family dispute disrupted their gathering.¹¹⁰⁾

• Departure Of The Combined Colony Fleet

In YE 45.1, To mark the launch of the Departure Of The Combined Colony Fleet, the crew of the YSS Mazu and selected members from the YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City came together for a formal dinner. As they socialized and unwound, the fleet entered the Kosuke Sector. Shortly after their arrival, they received a distress signal from an Illionite vessel that had crashed in what would later be called the Sharie System.¹¹¹⁾

In response, the YSS Mazu changed course and headed for the planet where the crash had occurred. They dispatched away teams and a field laboratory to the surface. Simultaneously, the Iron Company sent a team to help secure the crash site for further investigation. During their exploration of the crash site, they discovered the bodies of a species they later identified as the Cemlae, as well as two Advanced-Type Mishhuvurthyar within the wreckage. Taisho Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko and Taisho Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) joined the teams on the surface, and a briefing was held to determine their next steps.

While Taisho Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜), Shoi Motoyoshi-Ieyasu Daisuke (泰佑), Santô Hei Alina Shanui, and Jacob Morris were returning to the surface, a massive hydrogen cyanide storm erupted. This flammable and toxic liquid rain was ignited by ion bursts in the atmosphere, causing the shuttle with Motoyoshi-Ieyasu Daisuke (泰佑), Jacob Morris, and Iron Company personnel to crash. At the same time, Alina Shanui and Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina (清水本吉明菜) struggled to remain airborne. During this chaos, Shosa Mikael Harris discovered a deceased Illionite in what appeared to be the Captain's Quarters of the ship, while Motoyoshi Tachiko and Makoto Mikratos caught a glimpse of a living Illionite trapped within a compartment of the ship's bridge.¹¹²⁾

• Battle Of Becurn

The investigation of the alien vessel and the captured Illionite revealed that the War Masters of Illion are a dominant power in the Kosuke Sector and they have a partnership with the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) to feed the slave trade. Further interrogation of the one named Strategist Lyran Veil revealed that the War Masters of Illion enslave species and make them engage in combat with each other as a form of entertainment. One of such experiments was in a system the ISS Shiori explored, which was later designated as the Becurn System.¹¹³⁾

During the months to follow the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) and the YSS Karasu Gin¹¹⁴⁾ They set up Star Army Field Laboratory Type 43s in out of the way locations within reasonable distance from the Cemlae and the Mocaidins settlements.

The YSS Karasu Gin was attacked by the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX), followed by an overwhelming force which the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) engaged. During the battle four Neithorngom-Class Battleships and sixteen Asthlacthu-Class Gunships severly damaged the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) leaving the mighty Izanagi-Class Dreadnought adrift with systems failing. The ship launched its Soul Savior Pod successfully. A nearby United Norian Navy battle group was conducting research on systems where they would be relocating their core worlds detected the battle and moved in to assist.^115)116)117)

In YE 46.4, the YSS Karasu Gin were conducting research on the Cemlae and the Mocaidins when they encountered the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) warships. They sent a distress call, and the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) was the first ship to respond. It was not long before the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) was oveerwhelmed, and took extremely heavy damage. The crew of the YSS Karasu Gin were forced to abandon ship.

A nearby UNN Task Force exploring for positions to place their core worlds were the next to answer the call of the YSS Karasu Gin. They also positioned their flagship to act as a shield for the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) while their leader, Katara(a copy of Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko that had been put in a Norian body ¹¹⁸⁾ rescued Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko from the battered Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City).

Concurrently the YSS Yukika II¹¹⁹⁾, Iron Company Cohort, and YSS Mazu arrived on the scene gathering escape pods from the Becurn Star Fortress (Formerly YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City) and YSS Karasu Gin. The valiant crew of the YSS Yukika II under the command of Shosa Motoyoshi Tachiko ¹²⁰⁾ see an opportunity in the battle and they board one of the new Asthlacthu-Class Gunships, the XSS Soth'oth, to try and capture or find out information about this new class of gunship. The effort was successful. ¹²¹⁾

Meanwhile Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko was taken back to the UNN flagship, the UNN Seojun and given access to communications so that she could resume contact with her fleet. A short time later the Lorrheim Expeditionary Strike Group arrived with reinforcements and changed the tide of the battle.
