Fujiko

Fujiko (富士子 in Yamataigo (ι‚ͺ馬台θͺž)) is a star system in sector grid 1411 within the Fujiko Region of the Kikyo Sector. It is mineral-rich due to the lack of gas giants, making it very desirable system. Though despite this, there are only a handful of Yamataian mining colonies in the system instead being dominated by Nepleslian Reds industrial efforts. Coreward (Galactic West) from Fujiko is the Nellrun System. The Wazu Nebula is to the east of this system.

History

Fujiko was a highly-contested star system during the First Mishhuvurthyar War; it changed hands between the Yamatai Star Empire and the Mishhuvurthyar several times in YE 29.

Due to its relative safety, being out of the way, and protected by the Star Army of Yamatai, Fujiko became a haven for the remnants of the Nepleslian Reds. Two million people, mostly Nepleslians, settled and decided to stake out a quiet existence working for Yamataian mineral processing plants in return for living space and access to some of the resources. The Reds were attempting to build a shipyard in this system, but things never panned out due to their poor economic situation.

In YE 34, the Star Army of Yamatai constructed a Frontier Starport in this system. The Yamatai Star Empire then placed global communications networks of Emrys Satellites into orbit of all of the system's terrestrial worlds in YE 36. Also sometime in YE 36, Wisteria Starbase was put into orbit.

Since YE 38, Trinary Star Shipping has maintained parcel shipping centers in all of Fujiko's major space stations and mining outposts.

In YE 41, the YSS Eucharis entered the system, seeking Kuvexian infiltrators. It was discovered that the Wisteria Station's crew had been turned into horrors due to a recovered alien artifact. Linking the station to a hellish parallel universe, the crew of the Eucharis purged the station of transdimensional horrors and closed off the portal. Due to the nature of the incident, the artifact was retrieved and the whole incident was sealed under the highest possible classification. The crew were restored from modified ST backups a year later.

In early YE 44, the Ryu Keiretsu took an interest in Fujiko and its neighboring systems. Starting investment funds to develop the regional infrastructure, the Ryu Keiretsu hoped to establish a strong foothold for its operations. The first Ryu Heavy Industries production facility, its supporting company city (Shenhong City), and transportation links to the Fujiko Rail Network commenced construction in YE44.4 in the foothills of Mount Cool.

People

As of YE 44, 9.5 million individuals live within the Fujiko System, boosted from the initial 2 million Nepleslian Reds that moved to the system in YE 30. The unprecedented growth was due to Red (and Red aligned) immigrants streaming from the DION. The Reds expertise with cloning rounded out the rest of the growth.

As Fujiko IV's atmosphere is very dense, the majority of the population lives within settlements high on the tallest plateaus of the planet. While they are safer from the effects of oxygen in a high atmospheric pressure, the temperatures are so low it requires environmental suits anyways.

To live in the warmer lower altitudes, a number of forcefield β€œdomed” settlements have slowly been built due to past poor economic conditions for the population. The largest of these settlements is Red Sands City (also known at Neo Detroit to some) located in the Red Sand plains of the Continent of Kul.

Due to the influence of the Reds, you can always find someone open carrying with a pistol, expressing their views on what maximum personal freedom means to them. But Yamataian influence can be found as everyone has a foundness of wearing haori and women like to wear clothing that is a mixture of a yukata top half and Nepleslian clothing in temperate environments. It is also common to see people wear stylized environmental suits as casual clothing.

Yamataigo (ι‚ͺ馬台θͺž) is often mixed with Trade (language) and Lianjia Speech, creating a secondary language known as Red Speech.

Due to the chilliness of the Fujiko IV and high gravity, only a small number of non-humans desire to live there. In addition to the Nepleslians, one can also find Minkans and Kodians living within the settlements of Fujiko IV. A greater (but much smaller) number of species can be found within orbiting space stations.

Transportation

The Fujiko System is connected to the rest of the Yamatai Star Empire by PAINT terminal at the spaceport attached to the city of Red Sands. Other cities on the planet either have their own private minor spaceports and/or connected to Red Sands via rail.
