Standing completely tall, Katsu measures 5 feet and 3 inches in height. Most noteably is that he has a rather animal-like body. His head features a snout with sharp teeth and two fox ears are on the top of it. He has a big, fluffy tail, and his legs are digitigrade, meaning that instead of feet, he has paws like an animal would have. Equally, between the legs he is equiped like an animal.

His entire body is covered with short fur. Most of this is in a bright orange. the lower half of his face, the front part of his throat, his chest, belly, and inner tights are in a lighter color, the same color his tailtip is in. Both arms and legs are in a dark brown from the elbows and knees down.

On the tip of his snout, Katsu has a black nose. Along his snout he has a black vertical fur marking. The fur on the top of his head grows a bit longer to form hair in the same orange color as his fur. His eyes are teal colored and rather light sensitive. So much in fact that he almost always wears a pair of goggles, even in places like normal rooms with a simple lamp. In addition, a quite uncommon thing to note is, that his blood is white.

Most of the time, Katsu is quite unlike what his age would suggest, often acting like a teenager would. (Which may be because he technically is one.) He is a curious boy, always searching his surroundings for clues and something interesting. He views a lot of things with the naivety of a teenager. He likes to talk and sometimes just relax.

When he isn't wearing armor and weapons and isn't combat ready, but hears shots or other similary loud noises, or is otherwise reminded of war, he often flinches a bit and is seen stroking over the tip of his own tail, turning completely silent.

Katsu was born about 32 years ago on a planet named Uvarun 2 in the Kingdom of Neshaten. Similary, he is a so-called Shukaren Laibe, and thanks to their longlivety this basically means that he aged only once every two years. Back then he was named Vio'cera K'tsushira, Katsu was just a new, short version of his original first name. He grew up on an agricultural planet, where most people were farmers. From his very youth on he knew that he wanted to have a life of excitement and adventure instead of becoming a farmer like his father before him. As such, at the tender age of 8 Neshanten years, which is the minimum age to do so, he joined the Neshaten Youth Corps.

In the Neshaten Youth Corps he learned how to fight, navigate in the wilderness, and how to control vehicles, both ground and air ones. This was actually considered basic training for them. After this training he was used as a scout, observing areas for possible activities as well as being the first eyes on enemies to report back what kind of threat the main army had to deal with before they would retreat to safety. After all, the Youth Corps was not an actual combat unit.

When Katsu was 13, this changed for a few days. A civilian report stated that a ship landed on near a farm, so Katsu and his group of kids were sent to investigate and comm back to base if they find anything. What they found though was a group of Shukaren Daur terrorists, fighting the difference between the two subraces. As it turned out, they killed the Laibe farmers and, after the kids' group was able to call for reinforcements and wanted to retreat, they attacked the youth corps squad.

In the heat of the fight, Katsu was separated from the rest of the group, but thanks to him being a Laibe, which was the object of hate of those terrorists, he was able to divert their attention away from the rest of the squad, enabling them to escape. What followed was a two day long chase, where Katsu was on the run from the terrorists, fighting a retreating skirmish while suffering from sleep deprivation. On the second day, the reinforcements were able to find him and quickly took out the terrorist group, taking him back to base and to a hospital, where he recovered from the injuries.

After recovering, he was unsure about his place in the Youth Corps and the military in general, and as such dropped out of it, despite having earned some medals for what he has done. He tried to return to the life of a civilian, but with him always having wanted to become a soldier, he never tried to learn anything that wasn't directly related to being a soldier. After half a (Yamatain) year, Katsu decided that he did not want to be a civilian and as such he sneaked onto a ship of the Hidden Sun Clan, since those were just starting to establish a trade route with the Neshaten Kingdom, leaving his home and his family this way.

As a fugitive in the Hidden Sun Clan, he learned how to speak the Trade Language. For about a year he travelled along with a trading ship, posing as a guard while he learned more about this new, bigger part of the galaxy. Finally though he moved away from the Hidden Sun Clan and applied to join the Yamatai Star Army.

After the application process, he once more started with basic training in a new army. Despite him having about 10 Yamatain years worth of experience in the military, he needed to start fully new as a low-ranking trooper. This wasn't actually too bad though, given that at this moment he dealt with power armor for the first time. His experience helped in the field though, since using those armors felt a lot like being a normal infantryman, or infantryfox, and as such he was able to use quite some of his experience with that as well. Finally, after going through training, he was assigned to the YSS Kaiyo to serve on board of this ship.

Communications: As a Shukaren-Laibe, he is perfectly able to speak, read, and write Tinacen. But only very few outside of the Kingdom of Neshaten even know about this language. He has learned the Trade Language. Considering speaking, he is rather fluent with it. He's still a bit of a slow reader and writer though. After some training, he is able to understand basic Yamataigo when it's spoken. Being completely unfamiliar with the symbols of it's writing, he is unable to read or write anything in this language. Maybe he can remember some few symbols, but he isn't able to actually read sentences or such in this language.

Fighting: While he never learned any Martial Arts, Katsu was trained intensively in Hand-to-Hand combat with melee weapons like the knife or the sword, as well as with firearms. He was a rather good swordman even, compared to the others in the Youth Corps, but never achieved mastery or anything like that. Of course he also learned how to use firearms outside of Hand-to-Hand combat. He learned how to use pistols, rifles, bows, and similar weapons, like submachineguns. He actually displayed a particular profiency with sniper rifles and other semi-automatic rifles. Upon entering the Star Army, he learned how to use Power Armor. Compared to all other forms of fighting, he is still rather new to piloting those, but since they perform just like a normal body would in many cases, he isn't too bad with those.

Maintenance and Repair: In the Youth Corps Katsu learned that he always needs to be able to know at least a little bit of mechanic, either to repair damaged or broken gear, or for some basic fieldcraft. Noone ever knew what could happen in the field. While he is nowhere like a true mechanic or engineer, he does have more than a basic understanding of most technological things he works with and thus is able to do some emergency repairs or step in as a secondary engineer. Of course, knowing how a machine works can help in disabling such a machine as well…

Physical: Of course, Katsu is not really muscular, or strong, but after all those years in the various militaries, he trained enough to be considered rather athletic and acrobatic. He is able to march long distances, climb rocks and trees, swim, dive, and run for a good while. Of course, a pair of legs being able to run do not beat a power armor's propulsion system, but he nevertheless is able to go on for quite a while, thanks to an endurance built up over years of training.

Starship Operations: One of the few things, other than scouting, where Katsu was really good at in the Youth Corps already, was flying. In the Youth Corps they had interceptor ships that were specially designed for the smaller bodies of the kids. With him having grown a bit ever since, he is able to get into normal sized planes as well. Regardless, he was a rather good pilot in his young years, and now that he is in the Star Army, he can show that he still is a good pilot. Of course, a pilot also needs to be able to navigate, both in and out of atmosphere. He learned how to navigate using the stars, and when he knows the stars in a system well enough, he can use those to navigate in said system.

Survival and Military: Katsu's main purpose in the military, both in the Youth Corps and the Star Army, is reconnaisance. As such, he is great at navigating the land, finding water and shelter, reporting back his findings, and most of all, camouflaging himself and staying unseen. While it is a bit unnecessary with power armor that's able to fly and teleport, he learned how to find enough water and food to sustain himself for weeks in the wild, as well as stay hidden for an equal amount of time.

Vehicles: During Basic Training in the Youth Corps, Katsu learned how to operate ground vehicles and tanks, especially light recon tanks. He never was a really good driver, but he knows how to drive, even through rough terrain. This extends to wheeled, tracked, and hover vehicles.
