Murasaki Aoiko

Aoiko was an Nekovalkyrja, Type 33 serving in the Star Army of Yamatai. She was created by the Ketsurui Zaibatsu and serves in Star Army Intelligence as an intelligence officer.

Aoiko Murasaki is a player character originally created by Lin and adopted and played by Semjax since 2015 after not being used since 2009.

Height: 152cm
Weight: 46kg

Occupation: Intelligence Officer

Physical Characteristics

  • Height: 152cm
  • Mass: 46kg
  • Measurements: 68B-40-66

Build and Skin Color: Aoiko has a pale complexion and a bony frame. (I am lissom, not bony- Aoi)

Eyes and Facial Features: Aoiko has hazel eyes and the normal Yamataian asian based eyes.

Ears: Her ears are that of a typical Neko. Fur Black as with her hair, and pointy.

Hair Color and Style: Black (Violet, in fact, but in such a dark shade it is indistinguishable. - Aoi), nearly waist-length. She generally keeps it brushed back behind her shoulders, tying it into a ponytail on the odd occasion it becomes an irritation.

Distinguishing Features: Almost never seen smiling, except when indulging in a bit of particularly black humor. She maintains exactingly proper posture and decorum whenever she is with company. She bears all the standard manufacturers' tattoos.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality: Due to an early interest in samurai fiction during her formative years, Aoiko has perhaps bought into the theme a little too deeply. While she maintains a calm and polite demeanour, she tends to become extremely devoted, bordering on outright submissiveness, to one given person who she identifies as her 'lord.' Her sense of humour tends strongly towards sarcasm and the gallows, though she is usually not overly malicious about it. She cannot abide disorganisation, and happily goes to great lengths to ensure her surroundings are tidy and clean.

  • Likes: Decorum, sashimi, quiet, fiddling with files, ciphers, looking her best
  • Dislikes: Clutter, certain spoken languages, change, dirt in general
  • Goals: Finish a novel, make an exceptional breakthrough in cryptography

History

Family (or Creators)

Grandparents - the Ketsurui Zaibatsu; Mother - a vat; Father - a plastic tube. (I have been informed by some concerned persons that this is a bad thing, as I shall never know the indescribable and annoyingly indefinable spiritual joy of being born 'naturally;' that is, through an uncomfortable process that culminates in the most painful and humiliating procedure that I, personally, can conceive. This shall haunt me throughout my life, or, until something more interesting crops up. Oh, look, here is Intercepted Ciphertext #6329. I no longer care. - Aoi)

ADDENDUM: Aoiko was created by the Ketsurui Zaibatsu as one of many NH-17 Nekovalkyrja mass-produced in YE 24. Whilst most of the Nekovalkyrja produced during that period were designed with randomized genetic traits, many were also created using genetic information provided by living donors. Aoiko's own genetic information was not the result of random selection, but rather was provided by both Murasaki Sozen and his wife Kimiko. Aoiko had no direct contact with her blood-relatives nor awareness of their existence whilst she was alive.

Pre-RP

One of the billions of NH-17s produced on Yamatai in YE 24, Aoiko's early interest in and talent for information gathering and organization led her to service in SAINT. Mind you, this was not the interesting sort of SAINT work, with black bodysuits, daring adventure, and the occasional atrocity. Rather, Aoi plyed the records, cataloguing and archiving intercepted transmissions from foreign powers. Though not the most exciting profession, she bonded quite closely to the aging Geshrin in charge of the department, who she only half-jokingly referred to as the 'Daimyo of the Archives.' (Not the most exciting? I must call this into question. SAINT knows, certainly, but SAINT would also forget rather quickly if not for the archival staff. And it absolutely is exciting! It is not my fault if my biographer cannot appreciate the subtleties of curation. - Aoi)

Though content, ennui eventually set in - Nekovalkyrja aren't exactly made to sit around playing with files, after all. Devotion to both inertia and her 'Daimyo' kept her in her place, though, until a string of events pushed her forward. First, the information regarding the Mishhuvurthyar, and later, the Nepleslian rebellion, that passed through her hands only served to provoke her 'NEKO SMASH!' instincts; and second, the 'Daimyo' went into a comfortable retirement. Sufficiently shaken out of her routine, she walked away from collecting and organizing information in an office in Kyoto to request a transfer, that she may collect and organize information on a ship somewhere.

A stint in the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet bore quite a bit of fruit for Aoiko. She left the fleet with a number of new skills, an officer's rank, a firm dislike of commanding, and very nearly, a nervous breakdown. She transferred back to her old position at SAINT, but soon resigned that position and applied for a brief respite, spending a few months alone with her thoughts in Melanchol. Most recently, she accepted a position on the YC-28, and shortly after that transferred to the YSS Amaya. With the Amaya defecting to the UOC, however, Aoiko's position again became fluid.

Her final assignment was aboard the YSS Miharu. She was killed-in-action in YE 31. Though a memory backup of her existed.

A New Life

Several years later in YE 37, someone she worked with on the Fifth fleet decided that her talents could be put to use and requested she be revived. The government complied, and so Aoiko was brought back into a strange world that she did not leave behind as things were new. The only life she knew was working for the Star Army, as such she reinstated herself and went to get her first round of orders.

In YE 34, Aoiko as promoted to Taii and transferred to Pisces Station as SAINT chief there.

Skills

Communication

Aoiko is quite familiar with radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from others through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. She is fluent in Trade and Yamatai-go. She can speak and write both correctly and efficiently, if in a somewhat stilted fashion due to her over-formality, and can write reports and fill forms quickly and easily. Her fine Yamatai-go calligraphy is a point of personal pride. Lastly, she has a bit of a passion for cryptography, and makes a point of keeping up with the latest developments in the field. She is at her happiest when she has a particularly hair-rippingly difficult cipher to play with.

Fighting and Physical

Aoi received hand-to-hand combat training by way of loading all the necessary related knowledge into the her memory, and then following up with a rigorous training program. She is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons; and, after this training was done, she promptly began to neglect it. Having had no plans to ever really leave Yamatai, she thinks of combat as no more than an interesting tactical exercise. Both for the art of it and for her inborn need to put sharp things into soft things, however, she is in good practice with the naginata and an overly-formal school of iaijutsu. Recently, she took up a curious hard-soft Nekovalkyrja martial art based around exploiting hemosynthesis, gravity control, claws, and excessive strength. The art has been criticised for being unnecessarily messy, but she likes it nonetheless.

Information Technology

Aoiko lives and breathes the Kessaku Operating System. She loves it, every part of it, and it loves her back. It takes almost no effort for her to find, organise, and even hide information within the sensuous folds of the Kessaku OS' file structures, though she has never put any significant effort into learning how to go places she shouldn't.

Mathematics

Aoiko went a bit beyond the usual algebra and trigonometry. Her cryptological hobby has given her a firm grounding in statistical analysis and other such related fields.

Demolitions

People who know Aoiko may find her interest in explosions rather curious, but nonetheless, she is quite learned in the care and use of plastic explosives. (I do not see how it is curious at all. I am quite aware that armed combat is, to say the least, unpleasant. If well-placed plastique can remedy a hostile situation with little to no fuss, then I shall certainly take the more efficient route. My interest in the matter comes certainly not from a misguided sense of fun. - Aoi) A bit less sinister are her fireworks - given the right materials, she can put on quite a lovely show.

Knowledge

Aoiko is passably fluent in the history of the Empire, and the laws therein. She makes an effort to keep up with the debates in the Senate and any new laws passed, being particularly concerned at one time with the Nekovalkyrja Reintegration Plan. Furthermore, she is an excellent authority on pretty well all decent samurai and wuxia novels published within the last twenty years.

Entertainment

While certainly being nothing special at it, Aoiko enjoys playing the biwa, a lute-like instrument. It should also be noted here that while Aoiko is a fairly decent technical writer, she feels drawn towards crafting her own fiction. This is unfortunate, as her already-stilted speech turns rapidly into nigh-unreadable 'prose' as purple as her hair. She herself is only vaguely aware of the utter soul-shearing horror that flows out of her calligraphy brush, and is of the opinion that any given bit of it only needs a bit of touching-up.
