紺碧軍団 Konpeki Gundan or Azure Legion is the name of Motoyoshi Eidan's Yugumo Merchant Spacy Operations Team that was created in YE 45. It is a group of Characters and NPCs linked to the Motoyoshi Rising plot.

紺碧軍団 Konpeki Gundan means Azure Legion in Yamataigo (邪馬台語).

In YE 45, upon being promoted and assigned as the commander of the ISS Evenstar (Yoi-no-Myōjō), Shipmaster Motoyoshi Eidan established an Operations Team. This team was assembled from his previous colleagues and classmates from the ISS Shiori, as well as new crew members of the ISS Evenstar (Yoi-no-Myōjō) and individuals from its accompanying Escort Floatilla. The team would be the ones at his side the ISS Evenstar (Yoi-no-Myōjō) embarked on its journey to explore the Kosuke Sector and pursue the goals of the Yugumo Corporation.

The name Konpeki Gundan (Azure Legion) links back to Eidan's love for fantasy fiction. The name evokes a reference to brave knights in his stories who embarked on epic adventures as they brought glory to their homelands. It was similar to what Motoyoshi Eidan sought to do as a Shipmaster; to lead his crew on wonderous missions to bring glory to the Yamatai Star Empire and the Motoyoshi Clan.

Through the eyes of Eidan's grandmother, Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko the group would be seen as his first steps in establishing the base that would one day support him when he would eventually lead the Motoyoshi Clan. Her support for the group was deeply seated in the overall goals of shaping the future of the Motoyoshi Clan. It gave her faith that Eidan would never become like his father, Motoyoshi Tio.

So on the surface, the Azure Legion were an operational group of the Yugumo Merchant Spacy on the ISS Evenstar (Yoi-no-Myōjō), but it would be a symbol of much more for the Motoyoshi Clan.
