Ayano is the last system in the area of space known as the the Lonely Expanse. The capital planet is the Ayano. It is a tropical water planet.

Ayano (綺乃) means, “Beautiful” in Yamataigo (邪馬台語).

In YE 28, the system was originally colonized under the control of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet and protection until YE 29 when the Mishhuvurthyar conquered the Bard Cluster. It was then under the control of the Mishhuvurthyar until their defeat in YE 30.

In YE 30, Ayano was released to the Yamatai Star Empire's control as part of the Intergalactic Armistice Agreement of YE 30 (IAA) signed at the International Relations Conference of YE 30 at the end of the First Mishhuvurthyar War.

After the Mishhuvurthyar were driven off the system was once again under the control of the Yamatai Star Empire . The system was under the control of the Fourth Fleet, and it was re-colonized primarily by former Yamatai Star Empire soldiers. It was named after the Taisho Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina ( 清水本吉明菜 )'s daughter Shimizu-Motoyoshi Ayano (清水本吉綺乃).

In YE 32, The colony was abandoned when the NMX swept west through the Bard Cluster. All equipment was destroyed.

In YE 34, The Scientific Studies Service (SSS) deployed a Ke-P6-01a Bisen Lighthouse on the surface of the planet at the request of the Star Army of Yamatai.

Pirates offloaded a treasure haul in July on one of the islands.

In YE 40, The Bisen lighthouse sent a compiled report of the normal atmospheric conditions over a period of six orbital cycles.

In YE 43, The Shimizu Clan sent a survey team to find locations best suited for re-colonization. With the SSS report, they advanced the timeline and began settling the world with the Yamatai Star Empire.

In YE 44, Both starports were connected to the PAINT network. Shimizu resorts and tours were opened to facilitate commerce and further settlement.

The smaller secondary settlement was named Kaoru Cove after its Frontier Starport was fully brought online.

The surface of the planet is covered in a beautiful tropical ocean. The only land masses exist as various archipelagoes, the biggest island is currently the location of the primary settlement.

The planet is otherwise totally covered in water, with varied levels of depth, though there are long stretches where the depth does not exceed 150 meters. The closest analog of the climate to Yamatai is a tropical monsoon climate. There are massive ocean currents that carry unique flora and fauna long distances. The planet is host to complex plant and animal life forms.

Beaches are pristine and sparkle under the light of Ayano Prime thanks to the composition of their sand. There are active volcanoes that contribute to beach sand being different colors based on the minerals involved. When there is not rain or storms, weather is humid and warm.

Ayano is surrounded by a ring, and has two moons of moderate size in fairly wide orbits.

The nearby nebulae behind the ring give the world quite the sky.

Seated on the largest island on world is the capital city of Ayano Beach. The sands stretch against clear water with a large reef system. There are places for many resorts on or near the water, and some space for private residences. More dense housing exists inland towards the business and administration districts, which border the local starport.

The night life and general culture is centered around hedonism and having a good time, and seems to grow every month. There are several festivals set up to encourage this 'island planet life'.

The highest grossing businesses are: tourism, conventions, trade development and exports. Other ventures include: A Shimizu branch office, research complex, and specialized shipyard.

Places of note to visit:

• Aqua Mall - The biggest shopping area on the planet, with stores of every kind, restaurants, entertainment, hotels/apartments, shuttle pads, and monorail access!
• Straylight - A Shimizu business partnered with entertainment technology firms to provide food, fun, and a place to stay. A popular place to play anything from Aerial Football to all kinds of intense pleasures and games using the VCE Booth.
• Aya Beach Aquarium - Featuring the rich biodiversity of Ayano, with research and conservation. Yamataian and Jiyuu wings also exist.
• Katsu Katsu - A fast casual dining experience named after Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko.
• Shimizu-Jo - A palace complex of modern design under construction, meant as a mirror to Asagumo-jo.
• Treasure Tours - Where did those pirates leave their booty!?¹¹⁾

The second city of the world. It was named by Shimizu-Motoyoshi Ayano (清水本吉綺乃) in honor of her sister, Motoyoshi Kaoru¹²⁾. The city is on the largest island of its archipelago. The hundreds of islands, lagoons, and atolls all fall under this jurisdiction.

There is a large music venue just up the beach with the sea and sky as a backdrop. Access to public and private land such as islands is chartered out of the seaport, which also accepts buoyant starships. Currently, there is only one resort in Kaoru, most land is offered or held in private lands.

The main city center currently sits to the Southeast of the frontier base named Starpoint Midnight¹³⁾. The locals call it Midnight, or Starpoint.

PAINT service is currently active with many routes between the Core Yamatai planets, as well as all along the space-lane to the Motoyoshi Colonial Sector. The PAINT service is currently furnished by the Star Army of Yamatai and the Yugumo Corporation. They travel to one of the several smaller starports but plans for larger ones are expected.

Mass transit on the planet Miu is provided by Shimizu Fleet Yards, using an EM-K7 - Monorail system which is connected to nearby islands (only from Ayano Beach) underground/water. Private shuttles to unconnected outposts and private areas are also available by charter.

The population of planet Ayano are a majority of Nekovalkryja at around 73%, Minkan at 10%, and others at around 17%. They come mostly from the Core Yamatai systems, settled Bard Cluster worlds, or the Motoyoshi Colonial Sector.

The most populous visitors and minority residents are: Neshaten, Lorath, and Creating a Nepleslian or ID-SOL.
