Historically, the Nepleslian Reds were known for their ability to manufacture power armors, such as the Demon M1 Infantry Power Armor, Dark Demon Stealth Power Armor, and Crooked Demon. But despite these power armors (even the less capable M1), the Reds were unable to match the industrial capacity of the Greens and were ultimately expelled from old Nepleslian space in late YE 29. While there was interest in restarting production for another ill-fated conflict with the Greens, the Reds' failure to rebuild an economy capable of supporting such efforts rendered this impossible.
In YE 44, rumors of the development of the Megumi Mobility Skin by Advancer Enterprises reached senior figures in Nepleslian Research and Manufacturing. Leveraging their previous connections and past collaborations with Advancer, a team at NRM managed to acquire 100 Mobility Skins to experiment with integrating the technology with Artificial Nepleslians (specifically the Raijin Type). When NRM began inquiring about the production of personnel-sized Osmiridium armor plating, it quickly became clear to the Ryu Keiretsu (RyuK) what their NRM partners were planning. In exchange for providing the required armored protection, NRM was compelled to grant RyuK production rights to the resulting technology.
Using the Megumi Mobility Skin as the core of the Gen2 Demon LIGMA, wearers of the system look like armored and muscular humanoids.
Compared to the modern power armor which is designed to be mini-walking arsenals, the Demon II (thanks to the mobility skin) is designed primarily to enhance the physical attributes of the wearer. The Gen2 Demons exponentially enhances the strength of the user with a typical minimum lifting capacity of 1,000kg and a maximum of 4,000kg for already strength enhanced individuals. The mobility skin also greatly enhances the agility and reflexes of its wearer, comparable to the NH-33 (Eihei) and even possibly capable of exceeding their reaction speeds with experienced individuals.
Thrusters mounted in the back torso plate allow the Gen2 Demons (in combination with its inertial generators) to achieve fast hovering speeds and allow the user to land from high altitudes.
The safety requirements to make use of the mobility skin limits the eligible wearers to just that of those with augmented musculoskeletal systems: some Artificial Nepleslians (Raijin and Artemis/Orion Types), Nekovalkyrja, Minkan, or ID-SOLs. Gen2 Demons also lack a modern winged thruster system, preventing them from having the aerospace mobility typically seen with modern power armor.

The Gen2 Demon is more akin to a super heavy hardsuit than traditional power armor such as the Ke-M2-4 Series "Mindy" Armor and NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile”. Donning the system is done in two parts:
To get out of it, the reverse is done.
Control of the core of the Gen2 Demon requires a direct neural interface. It was specfically designed to make use of the Zhenren I1N Digital Mind augmentation. But systems such as the Superconductive Quantum Interface Device (SQUID) can also be used within the helmet to achieve a somewhat reduced level of connectivity with the Gen2 Demon.
The sub-components in this armor system include:
Gen2 Demons make use of RyuK produced Osmiridium armor plates with Neo-Mercurite Nanolaminate laid over it. Compared to Durandium Alloy used in early prototypes, it provides the wearer superior protection over the RHI Type 43 "Paradin" Infantry Kit the durandium was comparable to.
Base Gen2 Demons lack any real camouflage systems. The dataweave within the mobility skin and networking in the armor plating supports the usage of Omnihue impregnated armor plating to achieve limited thermo-optical camouflage. Sensory Smart Coating is an alternative solution to achieve a similar effect.
Installed within the rear of the torso armor piece is a Frame Advanced Tactical Electronics Suite (FATE). As the main AI, it is responsible for managing an army of “dumb” NRM created AIs (or several OLIVIA AI) located within components that are responsible for various tasks such as filtering data, monitoring the health of the user, and even tracking the expenditure of resources that need to be replenished.
The FATE AI then filters this data and presents only what the user subconsciously wants. Caring individuals will often be presented the medical vitals of those around them to allow them to prioritize their actions to minimize death of others, while more aggressive individuals might instead see projected weak sports and actions to counter to increase their effiency in neutralizing their opponents. It is highly advised that disciplined minds make use of the NRM tweaks of the system.
A collection of microcameras are impregnated all around the Gen2's armor plating. While not directly accessible to the wearer, they are used by the main AI to mentally “suggest” actions (such as dodging an aether blade from a user from behind) and initiate movements of the mobility suit has learned from previous actions and reasons of the action. Operators learn that they are essentially working against themselves if they fight against the mobility skin, usually the result of lack of reasoning in actions.
Due to the nature of the FATE system, each Gen2's computer core should be personally assigned to a wearer and should only be issued to someone else if they have a similar psychological profile.
Integrated to the standard rear backplate, the key component of the PECS is a refinement of the Gen1's Cloaking system (known outside of the Reds as a Mass Mesher Device). When the operator is next to an object at least 3 times its mass, the PECS is capable of hiding the LIGMA from electromagnetic and gravimetric sensors.
When there are no large masses around, the PECS can manipulate the mass of the system to mimic space debris in gravimetric sensors. Finally if 4 or more users are flying in tight formation, the combined effect of the systems can effectively make the group look like a single LIGMA on gravimetric sensors.
On the Electronic Warfare front, the PECS makes use of components from the Compact Electronic Countermeasure Suite. The PECS is capable of jamming radio and subspace communications being emitted within a 25 km area. It can also intercept and store (limited by the storage space available on the Demon, expandable) the same type of transmissions. It can only decrypt the weakest of quantum encryption (and most binary encryption), the electronic intelligence gathered is still valuable when feed to much more powerful quantum computers.
The PECS cannot be used for hacking wirelessly (with current software), but makes use of the same suite of computer infiltration software of the Gen1 Dark Demon Power Armor that is useful if directly connecting to a computer system. The user is sufficiently isolated to prevent “burnout” attempts from hostile computer systems.
Last, the PECS also comes with a Alpha/Delta Wave “ECM” (similar to the ADN Device). Kept on standby and largely controlled by the AI of the armor, the ADW ECM is capable of nullifying all by the most powerful psionic attacks known possible within the sector. For powerful individuals, the system dulls some of the effects (but often in unpredictable ways).
Gen2 Demons make use of the following standard systems:
Making use of the Megumi Mobility Skin, the user of the Gen2 Demon LIGMA possesses enhanced strength. Typically individuals are capable of lifting 5-7 times what their augmented strength is capable of. So if an individual is capable of lifting 450kg, they can now lift about 2,500kg. Though the system seems to peak around 4,000kg no matter how strong an individual is outside of the suit.
Using the RHI Type 43 "Megumi" Environmental Skinsuit as the inner suit of the Gen2 Demon, the user is completely environmentally sealed and supported. It is supplemented by the the pressure layer of the mobility skin, granting greater amount of thermal and radiation protection.
The Gen2 Demon can filter external atmosphere if it is breathable and can sustain the wearer for 7 days with internal oxygen and recycled water.
Gen2 Demons replace the basic aether reactor of old with a simpler Compression Fusion Reactor with an enough fuel to last the user for 7 days of normal combat operations and 14 days if the shielding is not engaged. Channels from the Fusion Generator (a linear reactor) lead to 6 micro fusion plasma drives within the torso armor. Two are located on the front, facing downwards (magnetic nozzle orients the thrust). The last four are located on the back, two opposite of the forward thrusters, and two additional ones above the lower back thrusters (optimized for forward thrust).
The thrusters provide thrust within a vacuum, but their acceleration is non-existent compared to those typically seen on modern power armor. With an acceleration of .000005c, they are only useful to move around within a cluttered field of debris or asteroids.
The thrusters see their main usage with in conjunction with the integrated anti-gravity system. Able to keep the user afloat and up to a height of 500 meters, the thrusters provide thrust needed to hover forwards, backwards, up, and down.
A long-term project by NRM in an attempt to create air droppable infantry, the integrated GRIT System makes use of the anti-gravity system to cushion falls from terminal velocity. When activated, a gravimetric field is generated that erupts with enough counter force below and to the sides when the individual lands to the individual. The impact feels as if the individual had only jumped 3 meters high. For optimal usage, the wearer must assume a fetal position during descent and land in a specific manner once making contact with the ground to distribute energy evenly.
However, it is strongly advised to not use the system around unshielded individuals as the countered gravimetric forces is redirected and affects everything within a 3 meter radius. While not always lethal, it will certainly disrupt the movement of others. The gravimetric field is also visible to gravimetric based sensors, making it not ideal for missions that require total stealth.
The Gen2 Demon does not have any integrated weaponry. But it does mimic Star Army of Yamatai power armor it was inspired by, incorporating a limited hardpoint system for the attachment of additional systems.
Due to the low acceleration and power of the integrated thrusters, NRM designed a large supplemental pack to give the Gen2 Demon better acceleration. The Fallen Angel Thruster Pack comes in pairs that are attached to the shoulder hardpoints. Each contains a compact linear fusion reactor that supplies and powers an array of mini M Type Fusion Drive.
