桔梗ｃｏｎｎｅｃｔ(Kikyo Connect) is a massive unified ecosystem of programs, servers, and applications that mesh together in a mass market information network. It offers a way for people, businesses, and other bodies to stay in touch, operate, and interact with one another from great distances. This can be achieved through mediums from simple text to full immersion meeting spaces, games, and applications.

In YE 42, the Shimizu Zaibatsu¹⁾ embarked on a project to better make use of the sector-spanning network SYNC to better integrate commercial, personal, and leisure activities with others over vast distances. Using long-term profits, extra staff and researchers were brought on to begin putting the intricate process to launch.

In YE 43, in Spring, the first major tests began in earnest.

In YE 44, a feature complete version began testing.

The primary team putting together the product was interviewed and assembled in YE 42. The team included programmers, engineers, AI specialists, data scientists, designers, and others. The physical office space used was most of the bottom floor of the corporate headquarters in Kyoto. Workers on other worlds or those traveling were allowed to work remotely.

As the concept phase began working towards actual implementation, the team switched to using the KAIMON series of computers to make the computing and networking infrastructure necessary to operate quickly and effectively in real-time through hardware that already existed. This was a departure from planning to use the Ge-H2-E3300 - Senkun Dual Quantum Computer System.

The team, led remotely by Shimizu-Motoyoshi Miu continued working until the first viable hardware and software compatibility tests were conducted in YE 43. Compatibility testing continued to be conducted alongside development stages, up until optimization of the release builds meant to go live in late YE 44.

Polish work quietly began, and at a festive party on the Winter Solstice of YE 44, both the product and the Shimizu restructuring were announced.

Many members of the development team still work on maintaining and improving the digital environment.

Using any SYNC and/or PANTHEON²⁾ connected device, users can go to the hub address for all of the different products and services that can be used through Kikyo Connect. Any compatible device that links to these networks, such as datapads, personal computers, a Star Army Communicator, Type 36, VCE products, and many more can be used.

Direct applications can also be downloaded for ease of use and expanded services. With valid identification, an account can be made on one of the services or to purchase items, but a main account can be used for everything instead of making multiple accounts. Multiple accounts can be made with the same ID.

The hub account allows the user to connect to a virtual space³⁾ or just interact via a screen or volumetric display. They can customize their hub however they want, and while there is a catalogue of presets, AI assistance can be called upon.

Once their account is set up and they have access, users are able to do among the following things:

• Interact with others from basic texting to full sensory input in real-time virtual meetings.
• Create their own presence on the social application(s) suite to update others on their life and other interests.
• Use bespoke marketplaces such as a games marketplace to buy and play entertainment software.
• Buy items from a large inventory from a single source, to be shipped from companies and individuals.
• More easily index and research publicly available information
• Perform and consume mass media through: screen, projection, virtual presence, etc.
• Allows individuals and companies to easily interact with one another, and make new ventures.
• Engage in seamless banking with their financial institution.
• Find romantic partners
• Show off hobbies, talents, professions.
• Widely share media to mass audiences.

桔梗ｃｏｎｎｅｃｔ is often abbreviate or called colloquially: Knet, Kinect, Kikyo, Konnect

It is available to access for free with valid identification. Advertising data is not tracked, and are only based on factors the user chooses or edits in their account information.

To remove advertisements, users pay:

• 300 KS yearly
• 30 KS monthly

Members of the military or the public service receive a 10% discount on their yearly subscription.

In addition to offering ad-free accounts, Kikyo Connect also provides:

• No-cost shipping for any items that fit into a medium cargo container or smaller
• Special live events and announcements
• Access to special run or early access to future Shimizu Zaibatsu goods and services.⁴⁾
• A free catalogue of media including: books, games, music, and experiences

A percentage of non-banking transactions is paid on each product sold through one of the marketplaces. For digital goods and services 15% of the seller revenue is sent to Kikyo Connect.

For all real goods and services rendered, 5% of the seller revenue is deducted.

Shipping of items is assigned to companies that can deliver the item in the most efficient way possible based on location.
