Developed in YE 41 by Ketsurui Fleet Yards and Kessaku Systems, the Star Army Damage Control Alcove, Type 41 is a Damage Control solution for starships in the Star Army of Yamatai. It is produced by Ketsurui Fleet Yards, Kessaku Systems, and Yugumo Corporation. It also replaces the Standard Damage Control Station previously employed.

For many years, starships in the Star Army of Yamatai provided the Standard Damage Control Station so that the Star Army Technician could perform field repairs in combat and more comprehensive repairs afterward. However, the technical level of the tools and parts provided was too low for the technology they were meant to fix. By YE 41, the old Damage Control Station was long obsolesced. To make things worse, there was little to no documentation on how best to use the equipment in various situations.

As part of an effort to overhaul and improve standard starship technologies initiated by the Yugumo Corporation that year, the Star Army Damage Control Alcove was developed to overcome these shortcomings and better deal with the situations which would likely be encountered by the Technician or Engineer.

The Damage Control Alcove is often a closet recessed into the wall of an equipped room and kept behind sliding panels, though alternate arrangements can exist in cases where room is at a premium. These closets are typically locked by the commanding officer, allowing access only to authorized personnel or the ship's computer. In cases where a fire is nearby, the computer will unlock the Alcove to any soldier in good standing who has had the prerequisite firefighting training with the equipment inside.

The alcove is typically stocked with the following:

• 5 Star Army Environmental Suit, Type 28 (AMES)
• 5 sets of Yarvex gloves (for dealing with metal fragments)
• 5 sets of Yarvex bags (for dealing with Zesuaium or other metal fragments)
• Integrated CFS Array Panels with 0.1m thick Yamataium Graft armor (if the ship uses an ICFS)
• Starshield Nanofabric Hull Patches
• 5 CASTER Tape Dispensers containing Molecure Tape
• 2 Starshield AstralBlaze Foam extinguishers
• Low Gravity Class D Fire Extinguisher 🧯 (for burning metals)
• 4 Starshield Graviton Clamp Anchors
• 2 Portable Quantum Foam Generators (about the size of a mini-fridge)
• Starshield Nanoflare Barrier
• Starshield Programmable Matter Multitool
• Portable Repair Kit (Premium type)
• Power and Networking Cables
• EM-J5-1a - FARS SAOY with EM-J5-M3601 - Arc cutter and EM-J5-M3614 - Light duty arm using the below welding/cutting equipment
• Welding and Cutting Equipment (including Handheld Plasma Cutter and Starshield Multipurpose Plasma Tool)
• Various repair supplies such as piping, sealant, etc. (including Starshield Gel and applicator gun)

The Damage Control Alcove is mass-produced, but is not for sale. It is only for use in starships of the Star Army of Yamatai.
