Type 34 Infantry Combat Vehicle

Modified and upgraded by origin in ye_34, the armored_fighting_vehicle was made into the Type 34 Infantry Combat Vehicle specifically for export to and use by the star_army_of_yamatai.

It is officially known as the “Type 34 Infantry Combat Vehicle”, and nicknamed the “Musha” (武者 - Warrior)

As of ye_40, this vehicle is no longer utilized by the star_army_of_yamatai.

About and History

Though the Type 34 AGPC was to provide ground based logistical support in less than safe areas, the vehicles still needed an escort. These vehicles needed to be able to keep up with the wheeled carriers, provide ample firepower and be sturdy enough to stand and fight off aggressive attackers. With feedback from dedicated ground vehicle crews that were often assigned to such roles, the Type 34 Infantry Combat Vehicle was produced.

It is fast and nimble enough to keep up with its charges in all but the highest of speeds, and equipped well enough for blasting and speeding its way out of ambushes and traps.

Appearance

Due to being based off of the chassis of the Type 34 AGPC, the vehicle shares a nearly identical appearance. A boxy hull fitted with a spiked ramming shield adorns the flatly armored front, while eight wheels are highly visible, serving to move the vehicle about. The rear hatch and ramp is also present as well, alongside the same Multi-Net Camouflage that comes with it out of the factory. Even some of the weapon systems present are also very similar - side sponson grenade launchers, defensive and utility mini-missile launchers are all present. Rather, the most pressing change is the main weapon turret.

The very same design found on the Type 34 Main Battle Tank, the ICV sports an over-under dual gauss autocannon remote controlled turret for the bulk of its combat needs. This is flanked to either side by a long rectangular box offensive mini-missile launcher to further augment its firepower.

Interior Description

The main compartment stretches from the vehicle's rear ramp to the commander's station and serves as the primary area for the vehicle's passengers. It is of modular layout, allowing for the vehicle to be adopted to a variety of roles. However, it has a reduced carrying capacity due to the additional weapons and ammunition on the vehicle as its main job is to provide either escort to transports, move infantry from point to point and provide support for them, or scout, fighting for its Intel as needed - it is not a logistical vehicle.

At the center of the vehicle is the turret bustle at which both commander and gunner reside. The commander's station is composed of a crash seat and a volumetric command and control system. To the left is the gunner's station; from here, the gunner may remotely control the turret on the vehicle. Meanwhile, unlike the commander and gunner, the driver receives his or her own compartment forward of the two. It has a reclined crash seat and volumetric view system of its own.

Though the turret itself is remotely controlled and too small to be entered for maintenance or repair, its 25mm autocannon ammunition is fed up and into the guns from within the hull. Twin belts of ammunition can be seen running past the gunner's left side, with the belts secured off to the side and onto the turret bustle's frame to stay out of the way. Unlike the primary guns of the vehicle, the mini-missile launchers must be reloaded from the outside manually, rather than internally.

A 360 degree volumetric view system is used to provide the entire crew with high visibility and situational awareness. Should this system become fully nonoperational, several pairs of heavy goggles are available that will provide visual feed.

Weapon Systems

Primary Weapon System(s)

25mm Automatic Gauss Cannon (2)

A robust and easy to maintain weapon, the 25mm AGC provides reasonable firepower for the Type 34, capable of demolishing buildings, wrecking havoc on infantry and damaging power armors. It comes with two mounted on remote controlled turret.

Location: Remote Control Turret
Purpose: Anti-Armor, Anti-Personnel
Damage: ADR 3, Munition Dependent
Range: 10 KM/6.2 Miles, Atmosphere
Rate of Fire: 6 Rounds Per Second

PMML Platform (2)

A heavily modified version of the Origin Industries weapon, the Portable Mini-Missile Launcher Platform has been made to have ammunition commonality with SAoY OAP launchers used with the Mindy and Daisy. This ensures ammunition commonality, and logistical simplicity. In addition to these changes, the case is lined with Yarvex to help contain the explosion in the case of ammunition cook-off - the explosion will be vented out from the front and back should the missiles prematurely detonate.

Rate of Fire: Individual, Salvo
Ammunition: 80 Mini-Missiles (Each)

Secondary Weapon System(s)

Type 35 Automatic Grenade Launcher (2)

Replacing Origin's 42mm Airburst Grenade Launchers found on the Origin AFV, the Type 34 Infantry Combat Vehicle uses a Type 35 AGL modified for mounted vehicular use. These remain a semi-autonomous point defense weapon with limited firing arcs, requiring user input to fire. The launchers serve the purpose of preventing enemy movement out of the more heavily armored front and into the softer sides for a better shot with its high explosive airburst rounds.

Location: Hull, Front Left and Front Right
Purpose: Anti-Armor, Anti-Personnel
Damage: PDR 4-ADR 2, Munition Dependent
Range: 200 Meters2) (4 km, Manual Operation)
Rate of Fire: 4 Rounds Per Second

Countermeasure Augmentation Pods (4)

Heavily modified, the pre-existing mini-missile launchers in the Star Army of Yamatai's inventory have been remade to be more boxlike and with a larger ammunition capacity than its normal version. The usage of the same munitions remains, ensuring simplified logistics, and the launchers themselves retain a 60% parts commonality with standard calf mounted models, mainly electronics.

Location: Strategic Hull Points
Purpose: Defensive Countermeasure Systems
Damage: None
Range: 80 KM/50 Miles, Atmosphere
Rate of Fire: Individual, Salvo
Ammunition: 25 Mini-Missiles (Each)

Optional Weapon(s)

Multi-Flare Launcher (1)

Optionally mounted on the rear top of the upper hull and facing up into the air, the modified CAP fires flares. These serve to provide either visible light or infrared illumination on the battlefield. In addition, they may also fire numerous signal flares as well, provided the rounds are loaded. The launcher is typically positioned on the left side of the hull roof.

Countermeasure Augmentation Pods

Location: Hull Roof, Rear Left
Purpose: Multi-Spectrum Illumination
Damage: None
Range: 80 KM/50 Miles, Atmosphere
Rate of Fire: Individual
Ammunition: 25 Mini-Missiles

Multi-Spectrum Smoke-Chaff Launchers (1)

Another optional piece of equipment, the MSSC Launchers serve to instantly generate smoke and chaff to break weapons locks. The missiles, typically located at the rear right of the hull roof, fire up into the air roughly two meters before detonating, instantly obscuring the vehicle in Smoke and Chaff. The smoke visually conceals the vehicle as the cloud rapidly billows out, and also prevents most sensors from getting a lock or detecting the tank itself.

Location: Hull Roof, Rear Right
Purpose: Multi-Spectrum Illumination
Damage: None
Range: 80 KM/50 Miles, Atmosphere
Rate of Fire: Individual
Ammunition: 25 Mini-Missiles

Vehicle Systems

Armored Hull

Unlike the standard Type 34 Wheeled Hull, the one used on the Infantry Combat Vehicle variant has a slightly different composition. The armor is thicker in comparison to its peers, bringing it back inline with the vehicle it was based off of, the Origin IFV. Other than this change, the hull us unaltered, and still utilizes Yama-Dura armor plating. As a result, the vehicle is slower than the Armored General Purpose Carrier, but is better protected overall.
