The Type 30 Akira-class Hoverbike was designed and developed by Ketsurui Zaibatsu. It was first deployed late in the year YE 30 for the Star Army of Yamatai to be used by scouts and special forces for reconnaissance purposes, as well as rapid transportation in combat zones.
The Type 30 Akira-class hoverbike was designed to be an even more mobile vehicle then even the Type 30 series of STVs capable of crossing almost any kind of terrain. Basically nothing more then an ion engine equipped with a repulsor field and powered by hydrogen fuel cells, the Akira is an open style hover vehicle made with a Durandium Alloy unibody with only one seat but two may squeeze into the seat with one behind the other. It is capable of reaching speeds up to and beyond three hundred kilometers per hour, and has a flight ceiling of twenty-five meters and it is controlled by handlebars located towards the front of the vehicle, and foot pedals slung underneath adjusts the speed and altitude. For armament, the Akira is equipped with a forward-firing 180 degree rotating light laser cannon (Tier 4 - Light Armor) located on the forward underside of the primary hull and is effective for light anti-vehicle and anti-personnel use and is controlled psionically or smart-linked through a Daisy or Mindy's AIES. The vehicle does not have life support so a pilot will be required to wear power armor or an environmental suit to provide life support if needed. The Akira is also equipped with an advanced sensor and communications suite including a light communication-jamming device. Finally the Akira is also equipped with tri-nitro boost function that can propel the vehicle over a vast distance in a short amount of time. Two to four of these vehicles are capable of fitting into the rear compartment of a Ke-T4 "Fox" Combat Aeroshuttle or Ke-T7 "Raccoon" Transport Shuttle if stacked upon one another and is also capable of being air dropped. Akiras are most effective when they are deployed in “wolf pack” squads of three or more.
