Oswald Cray is a NPC created by Jimmy who appeared in the Fort Ready plot. He is free for use by future FR GMs. He has been pulled out of semi-retirement and returned to active duty.

Oswald Cray is a Character played by Jimmy and is currently an Officer in Task Force Lantern.

Build and Skin Color: Thick, muscular build somewhat stereotypical of the Nepleslian macho culture with caucasian skin.

Facial Features and Eye Color: Oswald has deep stress lines on his forehead, and the odd small scar. He has a firm jaw with blue eyes.

Hair Color and Style: Dark, cropped short.

Distinguishing Features: Cray sometimes appears out of place in an officers uniform or behind a desk, his enlisted background making him habitually on the ground.

Likes: Relaxed drinking, good company, his juniors in good order. Dislikes: Poor management, bureaucratic red-tape Goals: Try and get most of his command out alive on their first-life, even if they have to hate him for it.

A career soldier, Oswald definitely shows the signs of his service. Deep lines in his forehead, occasional scars and perpetually tired eyes give away some of the hardships. At Fort Ready he was often seen at the shoulder of his commanding officer or with a group of cadets. To cadets he was often stern or indirectly intimidating, part of his job there. On the flip side, he was been known to give wavering cadets supportive words when they're needed.

Around other soldiers he's usually very polite and cool headed.

Oswald has worked his way up from the bottom of the enlisted ranks all the way to Shoi. He took a small halt in his career to accompany his long time friend Scott Kaine into semi-retirement at Fort Ready, but they were both soon pulled back out to active duty.

Oswald has served on many ships with Kaine, and the two share much history. Currently they view this latest voyage as a last blaze of glory before finally settling back into permanent reserve duties.

Sometimes the only way to fix something is to do it yourself. Cray teaches these skills to his students in the hope that they will be more self-reliant and perhaps make it through the war.

Cray is head fake teacher, he's also experienced in weaving his way through the military system to get what he needs or get to where he needs to be.

Cray teaches his students much about their environment, giving them much needed knowledge to help them survive their first combat situations. The books can wait sometimes.

Cray is aging, but strong. Meticulous care of his health and muscles has seen him hit his thirties still full of fight.

Cray knows how to use the Kessaku OS. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.

Cray received standard Star Army training, and has years of experience to back it up. He is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons he is trained in include energy pistols, knives, and power armor.

Oswald character is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. He character is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.

Having been dragged into active duty to command a fighter squadron, Oswald has been inducted into flight training. He knows how to fly most Star Army vehicles, but his training primarily focused on the Hayabusa. He's nothing spectacular, but he can fly the thing.
