Technology and Science

This article is purely a reference guide for technologies and sciences of the SARPiverse to aid in the creation of new products, technologies, and developments. It also serves to provide creative inspiration and a deeper understanding of the purely technical aspects of the Star Army Roleplay universe (SARP) lore. All of the following sections will contain article lists based on certain subjects notably important to understanding and working within the Sarpiverse's, admittedly, loose framework.

This article is purely nonpolitical, and will represent all technologies and sciences that are not faction restricted. For access to these articles, please talk to your faction manager.

Materials sciences

Many factions and species use different materials and technologies with those to help protect themselves, build their ships, cities, and worlds. These ideas in the study, science, and application of materials is aptly called materials sciences. From metallurgy to advanced microstructures to thick armors, this field is an absolute necessity in the construction of everything from Hanako's prized betta fish's tank to the hull of the mighty Tokyo class battleship. Even into the continent sized mobile megastructures employed by the nomadic Senti as city homes called Flotillas.

Unfortunately, the various materials in SARP are spread out over several articles taking time and effort to unfurl. From the List of Starship Armors to the named for players oddities such as Madite beloved by low technology or graphene technology factions everywhere.

Faster than Light (FTL) travel and communications

According to The FTL giude, there are several ways to accelerate past the speed of light, often to get from system to system.

As for FTL communications, or even standard channels that are beholden to the speed of light, several options are available, such as the following.

  • Subspace Communications is the primary method of FTL communications, though hyperspace, and even wormhole communication technology has been used canonically, even if it hasn't been used on the wiki.

UHF, VHF, shortwave, and broadband radio wave forms are often used for short range communications primarily for their low energy cost and reliability. Other STL (slower than light) communications are available, such as laser communications, fiber-optic cable communications, even so old as Cat5E and modem based communications infrastructure on very low technology colony worlds or settlements.
