The level of organization above the Star Army Century and below the Star Army Regiment, battalions are capable of limited independent operations due to greater numbers. It is the first level that includes executive staff with support elements. With reforms made, command of battalions are given to exceptional Taii that elevate themselves among their Centurion peers.

There are three types commonly created:

Armor Battalions provide the main firepower in support of infantry maneuver elements.

Provides close air support and surveillance to forces on the ground.

Infantry Battalions are the main maneuver element of Star Army Rikugun units. Without them, armor can be subject to surprises and territory gained cannot be controlled.

The standard Star Army Battalion contains the following occupations:

• Headquarters Platoon
  • Battalion Commander (typically a Taii)
  • Battalion XO (typically a Chui)
  • Battalion Senior Enlisted Advisor
  • Headquarters Centurion (typically a Chui)
  • Personnel (S1) Officer (typically a Shoi)
  • Intelligence (S2) Officer (typically a Shoi)
  • Operations (S3) Officer (typically a Chui)
  • Logistics (S4) Officer (typically a Shoi)
  • IT (S6) Officer (typically a Shoi)
  • 11 enlisted personnel and Service Android, Type 36A "Emma" divided between the staff sections.
    • 1 JTAC (Aviation Battalions only)
