The YSS Junpu (NS-X2-27) is a Midori-Class Scout Ship, commanded by Acting Chui Yuzuki Miharu, fielded as part of the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet and under the auspices of SAINT. It is the primary plot location for the RP junpu.

“In a fair wind, hoist your sail.” (得手に帆を揚げる)

Though the official reading in Nepleslian is, “In a fair wind, raise your sails”, the phrase can be several ways, and a few of those ways form a slightly deeper interpretation which gives the original kanji special meaning.

The phrase is often used in business or in military excursions; to raise your sail in a favorable wind is to take full advantage of a good situation. It can also be read, “Take advantage of luck,” or, “When blessed with luck, work hard as well”. Given the name of the ship, “Junpu” (追い風), the phrase takes another special meaning: As the other ships in the Junpu's flight are all named after different aspects of the wind, she is named 'The Fair Wind' in Yamataian.

So the motto can also be interpreted as asking the crew to treat their ship with respect.

The ship was completed and launched on 38年03月10日, effectively entering service in the Second Expeditionary Fleet. Having been placed under orders prior to its launch, the ship was initially held in readiness, until on 04月20日 of the same year it passed to the Taii Hamada Shizu. Initially the command was not meant as a Special Personnel Project, but was instead meant to, like the rest of the 2nd Expeditionary, seek out new worlds, species, and frontiers. It was only a few months into the command that the ship fell under the influence of SAINT, and Taii Hamada - an officer some rumor to be reviled by the Admiralty - had an entirely new crew foisted upon her.

As most ships of the line have their own histories, unique quirks, and crew-based modifications, the YSS Junpu (NS-X2-27) bears the following modifications from the standard:

1. Currently, the ship is lacking a MEGAMI. Instead, it has a shard of the AI of the first of the titular shlarvasseroth-class_battleships. Notably, use of the Junpu's Hemosynth abilities typically results in disaster. (As of 1.3) The Ship's current Captain, Acting Chui Miharu Yuzuki, controls the ship's AI in a combative relationship.
2. The extra compartment, starboard side, has been reconfigured into a Holding Cell by Miharu Nao, the ship's current Chief Engineer. It contains an Umbral life form. (as of 2.0)
3. The YSS Junpu sports only two Hemosynth Reconstruction Tubes, and presently (as of 1.5) it has only one, as the second was destroyed during the birth of a Nightmare.
4. (as of 1.2) The YSS Junpu's Sensor Arms are severely damaged, and are no longer operable.
