The Autonomous Orthopedic Medicine Unit (AOMU) is optional part of the Autonomous Medical Treatment Center (AMTC) and became available in YE 31.

The AOMU is designed to handle most Orthopedic needs, it can provide both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma. It often works in conjunction with the Autonomous Massage Unit for non-surgical treatments. These are some of the services the AOMU can perform, but it is not limited to these only:

• Chiropractic care
• Foot and ankle surgery
• Hand surgery
• Shoulder and elbow surgery
• Joint reconstruction
• Orthopedic trauma

Note: Some treatments are not applicable to all species. e.g. joint reconstruction is not necessary for species with regenerative capabilities: Yamataian, Nekovalkyrja.

The AOMU was developed as part of the AMTC to provide medical care of a orthopedic nature.

Currently the AOMU is capable of providing full medical services to the following species:

• Human
• Yamataian
• Nekovalkyrja
• Nepleslian
• Elysian

The AOMU has the following components:

• Computer Program Module the AOMU is programmed with the comparable medical skills of an orthopedic surgeon, chiropractor. The programming is updatable by trained technicians.

• Detachable Patient Platform (DPP)

• Scanner nanomachines developed for the Portable Medical Scanner PMS-1M.
• The AOMU has a Medical equipment unit installed to provide medical tools for the specific application. Examples are:
  • Hypospray injector
  • Laser Scalpel
  • Thermal imager
  • Compact x-ray
  • Delicate work robotic hand

• Self-contained emergency power

• Containment Force Fields
• Integrated Atmosphere System

• Integrated decontamination system
