Personality: Aoi grew up a shy, quiet young girl in Kyoto, but her recent experience during the Second Mishhuvurthyar War has changed her. She is now talkative and sociable, with a streak of sarcasm and bitterness about the world at large. Aoi also likes to make it clear how loyal she is – to friends, family, and fellow soldiers in her unit. Using her own words, “I'll never let you forget that I did you that one favor that time.” She also uses profanity in excess to express herself.

Aoi was born in Kyoto, Yamatai, in YE 09. She grew up watching the conflicts of the Empire, first against the Elysians and then against the Mishhuvurthyar. She attended school in Kyoto, and until she came of age never left the boundaries of the city. When the Second Mishhuvurthyar War began, she still hadn't left, and was in fact pursuing an education in interstellar communications. A few days later, she received news that her brother, Eko, died in an attack by NMX forces. Dreaming of revenge, Aoi enlisted in YE 31.

Aoi went through basic training and, because of her partial education in interstellar communications, volunteered for a communications specialization. Aoi was assigned to a pair of starships, seeing action with the 4th Standard Fleet briefly in the aftermath of South Gate, and then saw the bulk of her combat experience mostly in and around the Former United Outer Colonies. Coincidentally, most of it she saw on the ground as part of Away teams sent planetside. With the advent of the Legions and threatened with a promotion that would place her away from the frontlines (with the war changing and all) she decided to request reassignment to the ground as an Artillery Spotter.

Aoi is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Your character is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. She can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. She is also qualified to call in artillery strikes, and understands how to request specific ammunition distributions, ammunition types, and how to alter her call-ins to account for environmental factors including mountains, weather, and the known positions of friendly forces.

Aoi received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. She is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons she is trained in include energy pistols, knives, and power armor.

Aoi is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. She is proficient in entering and/or searching for information. She is also capable of operating all common radio communication equipment in Star Army, and is qualified to perform basic repairs and troubleshooting to their hard- and software.

Aoi received basic mathematics training, to including up to algebra and trigonometry. She has also received more advanced courses, including calculus, and mathematics-intensive courses which include astral physics, etc. as part of her education in Interstellar Communication.

Aoi is qualified to operate many common vehicles of Yamatai, including the Surface Terrain Vehicle and Yusou APC. She is also familiar with the Type 31.

As part of her basic training, Aoi was instructed in basic survival. She can find and clean water, and food, and spend many days on yamatai-like planets without resupply. She is also familiar with first-aid applications.
