Build and Skin Color: Kouan has a slender build. Despite his many years in academia he is works out regularly. He has a typical Asian yellow complexion.

Facial Features and Eye Color: Kouan has a slender Asian face. He has a strong chin, prominent cheek bones. His eys are amber colored and almond shaped.

Hair Color and Style: Kouan has black hair, shoulder length. He keeps it pulled back into ponytail when working.

Distinguishing Features: When working in the field Kouan can be found wearing a weathered vest with pockets filled with tools of the trade.

When teaching he wears a white lab coat featuring the SSS Logo.

He also wears a pair of Emrys Uno Sunglasses.

Age While technically fifty years old. When asked Kouan refers to himself as only twenty-five. He considers the start of his life as a Yamatai citizen as the start of his life these days.

Personality: Kouan has many sides to his nature. When teaching he can be a demanding taskmaster, and seeks to inspire his student. They learn quickly that he is also fair in his recriminations. When presenting or speaking in public about his papers and projects, he is a dynamic speaker and can be quite charismatic.

In personal situations Kouan is reserved. The decision made years ago to leave his family and legacy was not without cost. Over the years Kouan has made many acquaintances, and colleagues, but he has a very small group of people he considers close friends. He is unmarried but does travel in the company of a former Neko now a Minkan named Takaramono. She has been his personal assistant for several years as well as his bodyguard.

Likes: Good brandy, symphony music, sitting by a fire listening to the sounds of nature, books.

Dislikes: Nepleslian Military, people who destroy or exploit ancient sites and relics.

Goals: Kouan wants to learn about each new culture, learn their past and pass on that knowledge to generations to come.

• -20 YE Born to Nepleslian parents he was known as Kelin Sulan. Growing up he was facinated with history and legends about the origins of various people. Lacking the ID-SOL gene, he was slender and wiry. He preferred intellectual studies to conflict. So when given the chance to go to college he took it gladly, and naturally he gravitated to the anthropology and archeology fields. His father used his connections to get him a job working as a technical advisor with the Nepleslian military. He was displeased with the job because the only thing the Military wanted to use his knowledge for was how to more effectively crush their enemies.

• YE 01 He moved to Yamatai (Planet). He wanted the opportunity to observe something most anthropologists never had the chance. The formation of a new culture, or as he referred to it, the Greatest Anthropological Experiment.

• YE 05 He renounced his Nepleslian citizenship, and became a Yamatai citizen. Changed his hame to Saiki Kouan to mark this change. He worked as a consultant for the military, while continuing his studies.

• YE 07 He under went a body transfer to a Human, for the purpose of integrating better into the Yamatai society.

• YE 10 Published his first paper “The Great Yamatai Experiment - First 10 years” He continued working with the military as a consultant normally in exchange for access to various sites for exploration.

• YE 20 Published his book “Principles of Form Driven Sociology”. Followed by “Yamatai - The Second Decade - Years of Change”

• YE 22 Published his book “Adapative Anthropology”.

• YE 27 Published “Definitive Astrobiology Principles”.

• YE 28 Under went a second body transfer to a Yamataian body.

• YE 30 He met Empress Himiko I regarding a proposed Albini Reborn Project. Later she appointed him to found the Scientific Studies Service (SSS) as the Shuji.
• YE 36 He underwent a body transfer to a Minkan, which is his current form

• YE 30 Founded the Scientific Studies Service (SSS), creating a campus on Yamatai (Planet), outside of Kyoto and making strides to create a civilian organization to push the frontiers of Yamatai Star Empire science knowledge.
• YE 31 Under his guidance the organization contracts for several distinctive pieces of equipment for use by the SSS.
• YE 31 Under the growing threat of the Second Mishhuvurthyar War, Kouan directs SSS operations to work in conjunction with Star Army of Yamatai researching materials and specimens brought in from the front. In addition he directs the SSS to undergo steps to make the organization more self-sufficient.

Kouan of the length of his various jobs, he has studied and taken any course he could in his majors. He has doctorates in Anthropology, Archeology and Sociology. He has degrees in Linguistics and Psychology as well.

Kouan is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.

Kouan is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, and shuttles. Kouan is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. He can speak and write correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms.

Kouan received basic mathematics training, to including up to algebra and trigonometry.

Kouan has an extensive knowledge of Yamatai Star Empire and Yamataian Star Army history. He can speak at length about key events in history.

During his life, and many expeditions, Kouan has learned to operate a variety cars, trucks, hovercraft.

Between his time serving as a consultant with the SAoY, and his expeditions, Kouan has learned finding water, land navigation, shelter construction, hunting most often by using techniques from subjects of study.

Saiki Kouan is the Shuji of the the SSS, he receives a salary of 8,227 KS per week. Saiki keeps his money in a bank account with the National Bank of Yamatai. His SSS KS Card is programmed to allow him to access both his bank account and payroll account.
