Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'4 Mass: 134lbs Measurements: Build and Skin Color: Ricky is a short man, with a slender build, and a small frame. While he has somewhat broad shoulders, he is more “toned” than “muscular”, and he has a pale skin tone.

Eyes and Facial Features: Ricky has a very slim face, with a pointed chin, and a small nose. His eyes are small, but they are also a deep green in color.

Ears: He has human-looking ears.

Hair Color and Style: Ricky has dark red hair that goes two or three inches past his shoulders when he lets it hang down. He prefers to keep it tied back in a pony-tail. As far as facial hair, he has a simple “Soul Patch” on his chin.

Distinguishing Features: He has none of any particular note. Since tattoos are generally rejected by the Yamataian body, that's out of the question, and so outside of that Ricky couldn't think of anything unique to mark out his body with.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality: Ricky could best be described as a “wild spirit”. He seems to be in love with everything, happy wherever he happens to be at the moment, and always able to crack a smile for his friends and fellow service members. Whenever he feels the need, he is cracking jokes (which he usually thinks are hilarious, even if others don't), and generally seeming to enjoy himself. However, he is still a man of duty, and service. When given an order by his superiors, he'll follow it, and there shouldn't be any worry of his cracking a joke if a fellow squadron-mate dies in a dog-fight.

That's the most evident negative side to his personality.

He gets attached to friends easily, and feels responsible to them. If one dies, Ricky often blames himself, and may act as if it is his own fault for their death. He also acts in a similar way when his friends are simply hurt, whether it's emotionally, or physically. When he gets in this kind of mood, he stops cracking jokes, and it's almost impossible to get him out of it for a short while. It's one of those things that he has to do on his own.

Likes: Reading, flying, being with his friends, cracking jokes, he LOVES honey-roasted peanuts, and he likes to dance. Dislikes: Talking about his family, thieves, being grounded (as in not being allowed to fly), when he fails to cover one of his wing-mates, raspberries, and drinking to excess. Goals: In his own words, “To not get blown halfway to hell by some punk-Squid!”. Besides that, he wants to work as hard as he can to help the war effort, and hopes to live to see the end of the war with the Mishu.

History

Family (or Creators)

Daniel Thurston - Father - Deceased.

Michelle Thurston - Mother - Deceased.

Andrew Thurston - Older Brother - 28.

His body was made by the Star Army of Yamatai.

Pre-RP

Ricky is Nepleslian by birth, born in Funky City.

His dad, Daniel Thurston, was a mono-rail technician, and his mother was a history teacher. His older brother Andrew was born four years before he was and had been the love of his mother and father. They had only planned on having one child and Andrew had been that lucky young boy. The fact that Ricky was born was purely a mistake by his parents made one night after a bit too much drinking. When they found out they were having another child, they felt absolutely crushed. Andrew was already their favorite. How could they possible love another child?!

Ricky suffered for their poor parenting.

He always felt like he wasn't good enough as he got older, needing to compete with his older brother for attention, and just about kill himself in order to earn even the slightest recognition. He rarely ever received it and so he ended up just . . . abandoning his parents. It wasn't that he ran away from home: he just stopped striving for the attention of his family. Instead he focused on his friends, and own life. He started taking more pleasure in things outside of the family, like reading, dancing, and other things. However, he also became a sort of drifter after he had gotten out of school.

His drive in younger years helped, however, and Ricky was able to head to a piloting school where he learned to use small craft. His brother Anthony ended up working at a shoe parlor. That thought still makes Ricky smile a bit to this day when he thinks of how his parents seemed to be totally disintirested in him. Eventually though, Ricky grew tired of waiting to see of the Nepleslians would be able to beat back the Mishu, and the raid on their home-world made him rethink who it was he should be fighting with against the Squids.

Three weeks later, he enlisted in the Star Army.

At their recommendation, he received a brand new body, and training to become a fighter pilot in the Star Army.

Skill Areas

Communication.

Ricky has been trained to be familiar with basic radio operations and procedures. He's fully capable of communicating via radios in headsets, power armors, starships, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat situations. Besides that, he is perfectly fluent in both Nepleslian and Yamatain: able to write and speak both efficiently enough to issue orders under fire, write reports, fill out forms, and other tasks.

Fighting.

Since he's a pilot, his training isn't focused on combat, but he still met the basics. He has received training in hand-to-hand combat, enforced with a rigorous training regimen. He has experienced fighting in both Yamataian-like and zero-gravity conditions, both armed and unarmed. On top of this, he has been trained including the use of power armors, energy pistols, and knives.

Technology Operation.

Seeing as his job has no leniency for technical illiteracy: Ricky has been trained how to operate the Kessaku OS present on all Star Army vessels. Mostly for his own convenience and that of those around him, he has been taught how to effectively enter and search for information on the system.

Mathematics.

Ricky's JOB is mathematics. Due to the need to know advanced numbers when one is a fighter pilot, Ricky has received mathematical education up to and somewhat past algebra and trigonometry. He has also gotten education in how to do mathematics such as leading a target, calculating the angle a bomb will drop depending on gravity, and other things that are important for a combat pilot to know.

Vehicles.

As mentioned many times before: Ricky is a fighter pilot. Without him, the fighter is useless, and it works the other way as well. Without his craft, he is useless. While he knows the general basics of most all small craft, his training primarily lies in the operation of the Star Army's V8 “Kawarime” sub-light fighter. Like all pilots, he has studied his craft, learning it's intricacies, and nuances. He knows it as well as the back of his own hand.
