Kanashii Karei is a player character played by Eric R. Selvidge and is currently stationed at Fort Victory Reserve Center.

Height: 5'8 Mass: 140

Build and Skin Colour: Karei, like most Yamataians, has a very slight figure. That is not to say he is weak, due to physical training he is also slightly muscled. The color of his skin is very fair, complimenting his other looks very well. Quite different from his Geshrin body, when he was an odd, brownish tan.

Facial Features and Eye Color: Karei has a very pretty, fair face. Some might call it boyish, others might call it feminine. His cheeks are not terribly hollow, nor are his cheek-bones set up too high. There could never really be anything gaunt about him unless he decided to starve himself. His colors are a very deep, cerulean, almost teal color. Much like his build, this is completely different from his former body, in which he did have a more hollow face and hawkish face.

Hair Color and Style: Karei has somewhat silky, vibrant blond hair. It is not terribly long, nor terribly short. He allows it to frame his face, and occasionally even droop down to cover a bit of his face. This is not always so, as at times he cuts it to give him a more “professional” look. Formerly, his hair was very dark, and upon gaining his new Yamataian body, along with everything else, he decided to change it to something lighter and fairer. More beautiful in his eyes.

Distinguishing Features: None, really.

Personality: Karei is a shielded individual. In one of his specialties, it is one of the utmost requirements. He can be anything that he needs to be, but there is a true Karei beneath any facade he may conjure.

Karei could be described as detached, but not callous. The young man has learned how to detach himself from caring about certain things, people, and situations, without becoming completely cold-hearted all the time. In fact, to those that he cares about he goes out of his way to protect them to the best of his ability, and is affectionate when affection is called for. However, his sense of protection does not go as far as to die for his loved ones, which could mean that he lacks the ability to love unconditionally, but it is simply the way he is.

Other traits that would define him would be his curiosity and intelligence. The two go hand in hand, in almost every individual. Karei loves to see how things work, and even better them. It is why he loves knowledge, so that he might better himself, his race, technology, anything. In his mind, ambitious curiosity of that sort is to benefit himself as well as the Empire.

Karei is very perceptive and to a degree, slightly paranoid. The two may not always go hand-in-hand, bu this intelligence training taught him both extensively. He does not, per say, believe that “Big Brother is Always Watching”, but he is always looking over his shoulder just to see what might be going on behind his back. A compliment to this perception is a great ability to sizing people up as well as judging their characters. His evaluation is not flawless, of course, but as close as he could get. (I may elaborate more on his personality later)

Likes: The Empire, himself, men, learning, achieving goals for himself as well as for “higher ups” Dislikes: Failure, idiocy, getting obscenely dirty, cold Goals: To become a great asset to the Yamatai Star Empire, eventually go to develop technology in the Military Sector, and climb the latter of power, and even find a lover or two on the way!

Karei was born to a stable family, and brought up well. In truth, his life has been quite uneventful, and the last several years have been nothing but studying and training. While going on with his higher education, Karei decided, that instead of focusing on only one of his career goals, he would focus on both. He chose to study both the sciences as well as the knowledge required to become a member of the intelligence community.

More recently, he enlisted himself into the Star Army and went on to gain his training in the military. This added knowledge and skill in both science and intelligence operation.

After assignment to the YSS Eucharis, she was killed on a planetary surface mission in the Viridian System.

This is one of Karei's particular specialties, and something that he has somewhat extensive training in. He is knowledgeable of the operation, function, and compilation of most if not all starship sensors. He is also versed in cybernetics, chemistry, physics, and to a degree biology and anatomy, and continues to learn, his desire presumably insatiable.

Karei is capable in the gathering, analyzing, and determining the importance of information. He is extremely perceptive and sensitive to changes in environment, mood, practice, and anything else that might bring up red flags in his mind or seem out of place or alien.

Karei is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Karei is fluent in Nepleslian, (and if a Nekovalkyrja, Yamataian). He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.

Karei received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. He is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons she is trained in include energy pistols, knives, and power armor.

Karei is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information. Beyond that, he is at least moderately able with computer functions beyond your “run-of-the-mill” training, and has mild hacking skills.

Karei received somewhat extensive mathematical training for his pursuits in the sciences. He is very well versed in algebra, trigonometry, quantum function, calculus, et cetera.

Due to his work in intelligence, Karei is what one would consider “street smart”. In the process of gathering information skills such as seduction, by passing guards and locks, and things of that nature become very important.
