Murf

A lone system on the south-western edge of the Bard Cluster. It is noted to have rich asteroid deposits.

Flag of the Yamatai Star Empire

The first ship to explore the Murf system was the YSS Yukika.

History

In YE 29, the Battle of Murf took place in the Murf system.

In YE 30, Murf was released to the Yamatai Star Empire's control as part of the Intergalactic Armistice Agreement of YE 30 (IAA) signed at the International Relations Conference of YE 30.

The YSS Asuka was recovered by the YSS Sakura in the Murf System.

In the Second Mishhuvurthyar War, Murf held little significance to operations other than its brief occupation by the Mishhuvurthyar on their way to attack Hoshi no Iori.

The Yamatai Star Empire placed a global communications network of Emrys Satellites into orbit in YE 36.

In YE 41, Osman Heavy Industries moved into the system and set up its main headquarters there. It built a corporate city for the workers, and a huge factory complex as large as a city.

Regions of Interest

Galetean Belt: One of the largest known asteroid belts in our galaxy. It spans from the outer orbit of Murf III, to just outside the orbital path of Murf IV. The belt consists of primarily Type M asteroids (98.5%), containing high levels of nickel, iron, gold, platinum and other precious metals. The remaining asteroids (2.5%), which are only found in the inner belt, are Type S, which consist primarily of iron and nickel silicates with other precious materials existing in smaller accumulations.

The asteroids located in the central and outer belt are coated with layers of water ice, methane ice, and other volatiles that can sometimes be several hundred meters thick.

The Galetean is a nightmare for even the most experienced starship and armor pilots. Fast moving and colliding asteroids, clouds of crystalline volatiles in the wake of even the smallest bodies, and high levels of radiation cause disruption in operations of sensor and shielding equipment.

"Guriddo" Defense System

In YE 33 the Fourth Fleet deployed 4SF Standard "Guriddo" System Deployment for the defense of Murf.
