The Planetary Marine Rifle “Artemesia” (Also known as the “PMR-A” or “Art”) was designed in YE 35 at Lux Aurora by Princess Aerum Eitan. It replaced the older K-7 battle rifle. Tacho made the Knucklehead Standard-Issue Battle Rifle as a near copy of this weapon for the Iron Company. The weapon's namesake is derived from the former Espra of War, Artemesia.

In YE 35, at the point of the most intense battles of the Void War, the Norian Continuum Navy/MERN required a solution to fight voidic monstrosities on planets that had become infested. The existing K-7 Battle rifle was past the end of it's service life and was relatively useless against the outer epidermal layers of most monstrosities, so Princess Aerum Eitan undertook the challenge to design a new and easy to manufacture solution. The design for the first model of the PMR was quickly put together at Lux Aurora and had multiple issues with premature cartridge ejection and excessive power drain. As the design aged and new versions were released those problems were solved. Much like the Quintessence Pulse Pistol, the PMR had to be updated again to replace the emitter modules to swap out void tech that does not work in the SARPiverse.
This weapon was attributed for the MERN's victory at Hyotica IV, which led to the retaking of several core systems as the end of the Void War. Iconic images of the weapon were included in recruitment posters and ads for the MERN on Minatu Prime and Noria.
Images of Tetsuya Eitan (Airwin Caeyara) holding this weapon were also used in pro-war propaganda during the Craethel War.
The PMR fielded by the United Norian Navy (UNN) has a rugged design with a mix of sleek contours and angular cutouts. It sports a predominantly black frame with vibrant teal accents that give it a striking, powerful aesthetic. The teal sections are strategically placed along the rifle's body, illuminating parts of the grip, magazine, and upper receiver, which gives it a luminescent and advanced look. The rifle also has a unique, almost skeletal structure with numerous open sections in the frame, given its lightweight construction, for ease of handling in zero-gravity or low-gravity environments. Near the receiver, there’s a prominent marking labeled “UNN,” indicating its affiliation with the United Norian Navy. The weapon's design is highly modular, allowing its parts to easily be swapped in and out as needed. A circular component near the trigger area, surrounded by cyan lights, functions as a charge indicator for the energy-based firing system. The barrel and muzzle design are optimized for precision and stability, suitable for a marine deployment across diverse planetary terrains.

The trigger is coated with a sensor material that is process by a simple internalized chip that verifies the user's biometric signature. This allows easy tracking of who discharged the weapon. Non-Norian signatures are not accepted and cause the gun to become disabled.
The PMR is powered by easily replaced/rechargeable high-capacity capacitor cartridges, similar but larger than those used for the Quintessence Pulse Pistol.
The working parts of the PMR.
The PMR's modular design makes it very easy to swap parts in and out for repair or replacement when worn.
