Tafari Sadik is a player character played by Exhack. He is the leading member of the Iromakuanhe delegation sent to the Third International Relations Conference.

Build and Skin Color: Tafari is a tall, tanned man with an elegant build. His body is firm and muscular, though not to excess, showing the lean build of a runner and acrobat with a long trunk and strong leg and back muscles.

Eyes and Facial Features: Tafari is a narrow-faced man with refined features, with a strong jaw and high, aristocratic cheekbones. His cheeks are gaunt but not sunken, while his narrow light blue eyes and aquiline nose give him a hawkish and vaguely predatory appearance.

Ears: Like all Iroma, Tafari has the bony horn-like projections of his race, though his are polished, rubbed in with silver dust and coated with cosmetic enamel for a distinctive shine.

Hair Color and Style: Tafari keeps his neck-length and thick reddish brown hair pulled back with small golden clips, exposing a touch of grey around his temples and hairline. He has the potential to grow a thick and somewhat curly beard a shade darker than his head hair, which shaves away daily to keep presentable.

Distinguishing Features: Tafari is extensively biomodified for the purposes of being a perfect diplomat (and sometimes spy) in the service of the Commonwealth. His appearance has been somatically tuned to be hyper-symmetrical, while his metabolism has been altered to be free of any unwanted or unpleasant smells from his breath, natural 'smell' and bodily secretions. Augmentations to his musculature and skeletal system have raised his strength to be at around the peak potential for any Iromakuanhe, while precision lab-grown organs with modified and improved neural acuity give him borderline superhuman dexterity and endurance.

His most important modification however, are the specialized cognitive implants in his brain which act as extended 'social thinking' clusters, allowing him to recognize social cues and catalog personalities with remarkable ease. Studying body language, expressions and vital signs such as pulse, eye dilation and the breathing allow him to gauge emotional states without resorting to his race's empathic abilities. In addition to all this, his body additionally mounts subskin glands which produce a variety of tailored pheromones that allow him to very subtly influence the emotional states of species with 'human' or 'near-human' neurological and sensory setups.

The custom, military-grade nature of these augmentations mean that he suffers no deleterious effects such as increased dietary needs or a risk of rejection. Unfortunately, his internal architecture differs somewhat from that of a standard Iromakuanhe, let alone a comparable species such as Nepleslians, requiring specialized medical care that is rare outside of his home nation.

Personality: Tafari is sly, manipulative and predacious. Decades of experience as a public negotiator coupled with extensive bioaugmentations have given him an inhuman combination of skill and raw social power, allowing him to twist others to his whims and manipulate those around him skillfully. Despite the power this gives him, the man is neither sadistic nor vindictive, and does is best not to enjoy his work… too much.

In his working life, his actions are always carefully measured, analyzed and deliberate. Any sort of weakness is a feint to draw others in, a convenient lie to mask his intentions. Tafari is not a compulsive liar, but rather treats the inflexible truth as something that can undermine his various pet causes. He has a certain flair of the dramatic, enjoying long bouts of demagoguery and impassioned filibusters, even if they're remarkably ineffective compared to the other talents in his repertoire. This might be a manifestation of how he secretly longs for the times long-gone when those things would have been sufficient and people like him were unnecessary.

Privately, the diplomat is opinionated and strong-willed about a great many topics, being a staunch supporter of the Expansionist lobby. He is immensely patriotic, perhaps to the point of fanaticism, and only tempered by self-professed xenophilia and more moderate views on social policy. He keeps quiet about his own explorations of the The Dreamer Vigil, generally keeping some prayer necklace or charm on hand for the sake of abating superstition and meditates to relax after stressful negotiations, but does not really believe in the power of prayer. Those who do get a chance to meet him in private will find his personality gregarious, verbose and open-minded, although perhaps a bit self-satisfied.

Part and parcel with his VIA training, Tafari has been extensively trained in both defensive and offensive hand-to-hand techniques as well as the use of several hand weapons, including knives, pistols, rifles, anti-tank weaponry and all types of explosives, including grenades. He passes advanced qualifications as a marksman with rifles at 200 meters and with pistols at 25 meters.

He is in excellent physical form, with sufficiently high endurance to survive situations such as elevated G-forces and enough stamina for prolonged ground assaults. As a consequence of his augmentations, his body is also far more durable than a typical Iroma, allowing him to shrug off mild injuries entirely.

Tafari has had extensive courses in the use of NI systems aboard the Organoid craft employed by the Astral Vanguard, and understands how to properly utilize his own entry ports to interface with compatible systems. The use of standard-issue electronic devices and conventional computers have also been a part of his education. He is proficient at finding and accessing large amounts of relevant information. He is an adept hacker and information technology specialist, able to defeat common firewalls and safeguards and can render the same exceedingly difficult for others. His knowledge of software and digital virii is all the way up to a basic understanding of advanced polymorphic viruses.

Tafari is a known polyglot who speaks Saalsari and the Haidasari hunting language with great fluency, and also demonstrates a remarkable ability to speak Yamataian, Nepleslian and Abwehran without a strong accent or the usage of loanwords. He is capable of using all standard communications found in the Iromakuanhe Astral Commonwealth, in particular those employed by the Astral Vanguard. This includes laser, radio and MASC-enhanced variations in various formats and media.

Tafari is capable of basic medical techniques, including everything up to first aid, emergency care such as CPR or the Heimlich maneuver and the administering of preprepared medicine, such as painkillers or stimulants.

Tafari has advanced comprehension and practical ability in the piloting of a Powered Frame unit, capable of flying under most conditions and operating all of the onboard weaponry safely and efficiently in combat scenarios. He can make complex battlefield maneuvers while under high stress (combat, etc) and adjust his movements to compensate for all logical combat variables (gravity, weapons fire, atmospheric conditions, etc). He understands the basic functionality of his machine and can make basic repairs to certain subsystems. More than just well trained in their use, he has sufficient ability that it would almost seem that his abilities were ingrained on an instinctual level.

From his short time as special operations officer. Tafari has learned the essentials of tactics and command, but has not achieved the required level of mastery to put himself in a command position. However, he is capable of giving and following tactical orders quickly and efficiently in combat scenarios and can follow the command structure of his unit or wing while under highly stressful conditions (combat, etc). He is capable of making use of the information given to him (tactical maps, target statistics, marked targets, etc) and finding relevant information to send to the rest of his unit. He is also well-versed in marine boarding tactics for ship-to-ship combat, as well as urban and guerrilla warfare for ground assaults.

Tafari is proficient in protocol and etiquette for proper diplomatic engagements, and is a good negotiator. In effect, he has spent the better part of eight years training for his first diplomatic engagement with the other races of local space. He is equally adept at utilizing raw emotional appeals and demagoguery as he is sound logic and carefully worded arguments, and his social implants make him quite able at determining the ideal circumstances for either.
