The flagship piece of the Massada Corporation, a high-tech prototyping firm that specializes in consumer electronics in the Sogol Group, the Datashard is an electronic device that is broadly comparable and notable superior to Solan Starworks Datarod. It is primarily sold in the civilian sector rather than the Astral Vanguard, so the pieces lack the ruggedness and ease of repair, instead offering a notably clean aesthetic and improved performance over its government issue competitor.

The device takes the shape of a smoothed rectangular sliver of silvery, segmented armorphous diamond-coated material approximately 2cm thick, 2cm wide and 8cm long, which is able to be dynamically compressed into a more compact shape via advanced smart materials. Reacting to pressure and bioelectric signals emitted by the user's hands (especially in the case of Iromakuanhe), the device shape adjusts and can be activated at will. With a faint squeeze, the user is able to open the prompt to their phone, which opens a large volumetric window. A combination of voice and touch input commands allow the user to customize a variety of settings on Datashard.

Unlike comparable volumetric devices, every surface of the Datashard is capable of functioning as a volumetric projector, allowing it to fill the functions of a media display, personal computer and communicator. Some programmers have even taken advantage of the partial resistance offered by volumetrics to use the devices to create volumetric 'toys' such as melee weapons, guns and enhancements to pieces of fashion, although these tend to drain the battery significantly, reducing days of function to a handful of hours. Although exceeding popular in the consumer market, the Datashard has had notable issues due to its proprietary all-in-one construction, though tough does not allow for repairs. Ruined Datashards have to be deconstructed and recycled.
