Galactic Horizon Wayfarer Grab

The Wayfarer Garb is a hardy, rugged coat designed and developed by Galactic Horizon that entered the market in mid YE 45, while originating as a piece of kit exclusively available to the corporation's employees and subcontracted entities its immense popularity eventually led to Galactic Horizon quietly listing it as a product on their website.

The coat is usually seen worn by mercenaries, drifter-types and outer-sector workers who all demand durability and protection from their gear, a few stylistic variations are available but they all retain the same functionality.

The Wayfarer Garb is a rugged coat sold by Galactic Horizon beginning in YE 45. The Wayfarer Garb costs 500KS/100RN/100DA and is available from Galactic Horizon.

Design

The coat's outermost layer is a silver-woven synthetic fabric1) that provides some passive infrared shielding, beneath this is a thin mesh of phosphor bronze alloy designed to mitigate damage to the wearer when coming into contact with laser/plasma discharges, beneath this are a few alternating layers of aramid-fiber reinforced polymers that provide some small-arms protection and self-seal to mitigate visible damage to the garment.

Underneath this thin-yet-potent layer of protection are flexible heating and cooling elements powered by twin tritium batteries stored in the chest section of the coat, one each side. The synthetic liner is a quilted, polyester-based material designed to take a good bit of abuse without ripping or tearing - half of the Wayfarer Garb's target demographic wear weapons and bodyarmour beneath their coat after all.

The wayfarer garb is available with either a double breasted torso or a more traditional pattern that still retains some overlap, featuring both a snagless titanium zipper and four distinct buttons. Multiple lengths are also available, with the coat ending below the hip, at the knee or even down to one's calf. The wrists feature zippers that run mid-way down the wearer's forearm and are available either with or without elastic, an optional detachable hood is also available and flows almost seamlessly into the coat's lightly padded shoulders, the sides of the coat's torso section are also lightly padded. The coat features two hip pockets, two large interior-chest pockets and a smaller, magnetically-sealed hidden pocket at the small of the wearer's back - optional passthrough slits for scabbard straps are also available on demand.

The Wayfarer Garb features some additional fuctionality, two small lights are mounted to the edges of the collar to provide forward-projected white or infrared light for the wearer as needed, small volumetric projectors in the wrist benefit from a wireless passthrough system allowing them to display information from and provide inputs to tethered devices, a microphone and data port are also located inside the collar. A retracting datalink cable is housed confortably within each sleeve and feed into a small 5 terrabyte ssd stored in the left breast of the coat, lastly an emergency sos beacon's flexible antenna runs up the spine of the coat - with all these features being controlled through the wrist-mounted volumetric screens.

While the Wayfarer Garb's most popular colours are black, grey and brown it's available in almost any colour/camouflage combination imaginable for no extra cost, additional fees only applying to more custom, bespoke designs on a case-by-case basis2).

Usage

The Wayfarer Garb is worn like any other coat, closed with the zipper and/or buttons - the coat's various functions are controlled via the projected volumetric screens on each wrist.
