Created by Ketsurui Fleet Yards in YE 29, the aether pod is a new type of Star Army Weapon Pod design to serve as an optional replacement or supplement to the standard pods. Unlike the variable pods of the past, this pod is limited to aether blasts only.

The nomenclature for these pods is Ke-S3-W2902.

Aether pods deploy from standard weapons pods hatches on the hull of a Star Army of Yamatai ship's hull. Under their own power, they can zoom around and defend the ship as needed; they do not need the ship's combined field to power them. This allows them to operate independently of a starship for as long and as far away as necessary.
