Sleeping bags can be used with interior liners and exterior covers to increase weather/moisture resistance and to enhance insulation. When not in use, sleeping bags are rolled up and/or stuffed into a carrying bag.

Sleeping bags are used by civilians primarily for recreation.

Most military forces issue their planetary soldiers sleeping bags.
