Type 46 "Medispectra" Medical Scanner

The Type 46 “Medispectra” Medical Scanner is an medical diagnostic tool designed for Nepleslian Reds and civilian users (1B variant). Functionally it is a Portable Medical Scanner PMS-1M copy that provides comprehensive medical diagnostics, postmortem analysis, and DNA collection capabilities. Both variants were introduced in YE 46.

History

Developed by Nepleslian Research and Manufacturing, it was introduced in YE 46 as a response to the increasing need for modern field-deployable, multifunctional medical equipment that could operate in diverse environments, including on battlefields. In true Red fashion, the NRM copied much of the functionality of the medispecrtra from salvaged Portable Medical Scanner PMS-1M from the Second Mishhuvurthyar War era. The first prototypes were issued to the 1st Fujiko Expeditionary Unit for testing in the deserts of Planet Osman in late YE 462).

Appearance

The “Medispectra” Scanner boasts a sleek, ergonomic design optimized for handheld use. Its dimensions are approximately 20 cm in length, 7 cm in width, and 5 cm in depth, making it highly portable. The casing is typically a matte black with minimal reflective surfaces to maintain a low profile during operations. It weighs around 0.5 kilograms, light enough to be carried without fatigue during extended use.

Function and Design

The “Medispectra” Scanner is a compact, handheld device engineered for robustness and ease of use in demanding field conditions. The Type 46 “Medispectra” Medical Scanner is the perfect representation the duality of the Nepleslian Reds, while they desire to occupy a niche in the market that can benefit others, they do so entirely to advance their own goals. The medical scanner is designed to serve three purposes: comprehensive medical diagnostics, postmortem analysis, and DNA collection to ensure their “vision” of various genetic pools of species is always up to date for which they can exploit for genetic engineering.

Function

The scanner is primarily designed for rapid and accurate medical diagnostics in field conditions. It uses nanites, which are injected into the patient through a state-of-the-art hypospray injector. These nanites are capable of performing a full spectrum of diagnostic checks, including blood analysis, organ function tests, and neural scans. Additionally, the scanner can be set to collect DNA samples, storing this data securely for future analysis and/or intelligence use.

  • Comprehensive Diagnostics:
    • Vital Signs Monitoring: The scanner can measure and record vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate, in real-time. This allows for immediate assessment of a patient’s health and stability.
    • Blood Analysis: It performs detailed blood tests to check for infections, blood cell counts, electrolyte levels, and other important biochemical markers. This function is crucial for diagnosing diseases or monitoring ongoing health conditions.
    • Organ Function Tests: The scanner assesses the functionality of critical organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs. It uses the nanites to measure organ-specific enzymes and other biomarkers, providing insights into the health of these organs.
    • Neural Scans: Using advanced nanotechnology, the scanner performs scans of the neural system, including brain activity monitoring. This is vital for assessing neurological health and can help in diagnosing injuries like concussions or other brain trauma.
    • Integrity Scans: Nanites can seek and assess any damage a patient has sustained to various organs and structures within the body such as blood vessels.
  • Postmortem Analysis:
    • Cause of Death Determination: The scanner can be used postmortem to help ascertain the cause of death, which is particularly valuable in field operations where understanding the cause can inform tactical decisions or prevent further casualties.
    • Tissue Analysis: It conducts detailed examinations of tissues to detect signs of diseases that may not have been diagnosed during life or to confirm the presence of conditions suspected before death.
  • DNA Collection (requires specialized nanites for the task for 1B variant):
    • Discreet Sampling: In addition to its diagnostic capabilities, the scanner's nanites can discreetly collect DNA samples from the subject. This function can be activated manually by the operator, ensuring that it is used only when authorized.
    • Secure Data Storage: Collected DNA data is encrypted and securely stored within the scanner's internal memory, which is tamper-resistant and accessible only by authorized personnel. This ensures the oxymoron of confidentiality and integrity of sensitive genetic information just “gathered”.
    • Data Analysis and Export: The scanner not only collects but also analyzes DNA samples, providing genetic profiles that can be used for various purposes, including identification, health assessment, and other forensic applications.

Design

The scanner features a rugged Durandium Alloy casing designed to resist environmental challenges such as moisture, dust, and mechanical impact, ensuring reliability in harsh field conditions. The internal components are modular, allowing for easy maintenance and quick replacement of parts in the field.

Internal Components
Hypospray Injector An injector that allows for painless delivery of nanites into the bloodstream through armor or skin via high-Pressure contact nozzles.
Subsurface Optical and Ultrasound Refraction Sensors Assists in targeting and assessing the injection site by providing detailed images of the underlying tissue structure up to 3cm in depth.
Nanite Cartridge Pre-loaded cartridges contain nanites programmed for specific diagnostic tasks and can be custom-configured for DNA collection.
Power Pack A high-efficiency battery provides extended operational life, supporting up to 48 hours of continuous use without recharging.

The scanner is compatible with any device or digital mind (implant or designed) that has the required software. With the use of booster patches, the nanite can remain in communication with the scanner (and by extension the user) within a 30 meter radius.
