History

The Prowler quadrupedal drone was designed and manufactured in year YE:46, a few days after the development of the Tyr MK1 Power Armor. The Prowler was created to address the need for an adaptable and reliable reconnaissance drone capable of navigating various terrains. However, the first order of the Prowler drones was incorrectly manufactured by the Engineering Corps at one-eighth scale. These miniature versions were found to be cute and completely harmless, so they were given out to members of the Mining Guild as robotic pets. Following this, the correct scale versions were produced, but the miniature versions, now called Mini-Prowlers, continued to be created as novelties. The Prowler was put into mass production following successful field tests that demonstrated its efficacy in urban, rural, and rugged environments.

Function and Design

The Quadrupedal Drone Prowler is designed for patrol, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. Equipped with advanced sensors and AI, it can navigate autonomously or be remotely controlled, offering flexibility in various operational scenarios. Its quadrupedal design allows it to traverse rough terrain, climb stairs, and even jump short distances, making it highly versatile in different environments. The Prowler's sensors include high-resolution cameras, thermal imaging, and lidar, enabling it to detect and identify objects, monitor activities, and provide real-time data to operators. Additionally, its robust construction ensures durability and reliability, even in harsh conditions, making it an invaluable asset for security and reconnaissance tasks.

Appearance

The Prowler drone has a distinct appearance as a quadrupedal drone. Its agile, animal-like design with a low profile allows it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings and move swiftly and silently. Despite its legs appearing skinny, they are reinforced for enhanced mobility and stability, ensuring that the drone can navigate challenging terrains without compromising performance. The Prowler is primarily matte black, consistent with the aesthetic of most robots in the Defender series. However, there are camouflage options available for different environments, including desert, forest, and urban settings, allowing it to adapt visually to its surroundings and remain inconspicuous during operations. This combination of sleek design and practical functionality makes the Prowler both an effective and visually striking reconnaissance tool.

Systems

AI: Prowler

The Prowler is built with sophisticated computation systems, for its use as its Brain. This is done through Fast-processing AI for quick response and movement, along with a whole network of Data crystal-based technology that functions as a processor similar to the Mammoth Juggernaut tanks. In addition, the Prowler uses Autonomous patrolling algorithms with adaptive pathfinding, allowing it to figure out where it is, and where it needs to go, whether this was to return to base, or otherwise.

Sensors

The Prowler is equipped with a highly capable sensor package, enabling it to comprehensively perceive its environment and effectively search for threats. At the forefront of its sensory suite are wide-angle high-resolution cameras, which provide panoramic surveillance and are capable of both infrared vision and LIDAR. These cameras allow the Prowler to see in low-light conditions and accurately map its surroundings, ensuring thorough and detailed monitoring.

In addition to its visual sensors, the Prowler's feet are outfitted with ground vibration sensors. These sensors detect movements in the ground, allowing the drone to be aware of approaching individuals or track the movement of its targets, even if they are trying to sneak up on it.

Furthermore, the Prowler's sensors are so advanced that it can “smell” its environment using integrated chemical analyzers. These analyzers can detect the presence of explosives, toxins, and other hazardous substances, providing crucial information about potential dangers. This capability enables the Prowler to alert its allies or nearby civilians to potential threats, enhancing safety and security in its operational area.

Overall, the Prowler's sophisticated sensor package ensures it can detect, analyze, and respond to a wide range of environmental conditions and threats, making it an invaluable asset for surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

Communications

The Prowler is equipped with sophisticated communications systems that ensure secure and reliable connectivity during operations. It utilizes encrypted short-range communication to interact with other units, ensuring that data exchange remains secure and protected from unauthorized access. This encryption is crucial for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of mission-critical information.

In addition to short-range communication, the Prowler can receive encrypted real-time data transmissions. This capability allows it to stay updated with the latest mission directives, environmental data, and situational awareness information, enabling it to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

To extend its communication range in remote or challenging areas, the Prowler is equipped with signal boosters. These boosters amplify its transmission power, ensuring that it can maintain contact with command centers and other units even in areas with poor signal coverage.

In the event that the Prowler is attacked and sustains critical damage, it is capable of sending out automated distress signals. These signals alert nearby units and command centers to the Prowler's situation, enabling rapid response and assistance. This feature enhances the Prowler's survivability and ensures that valuable data and operational capabilities are not lost even in dire situations.

Defense

As a patroller unit, the Prowler is built with light armor plating, designed to prioritize speed and agility over heavy protection. This lightweight armor enables the drone to move faster than other units in the Defender series, enhancing its effectiveness in reconnaissance and rapid response missions. Despite its lighter build, the armor plating has been specially treated to be resistant to EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) attacks, ensuring that the Prowler remains operational even in environments where such threats are prevalent.

The Prowler is also equipped with sophisticated thermal regulation systems to maintain optimal performance in extreme temperatures. These systems prevent the drone from overheating during patrols, even on hot volcanic planets or in desert environments. Advanced cooling mechanisms dissipate excess heat, allowing the Prowler to operate efficiently in scorching conditions.

Conversely, the Prowler's systems also include features to prevent freezing on ice worlds. These mechanisms ensure that the drone's components remain functional in subzero temperatures, maintaining its mobility and sensor capabilities in frigid environments.

Power

The Prowler unit is powered by a solar rechargeable battery, providing it with an operational period of up to 48 hours on a full charge. This solar charging capability allows the Prowler to recharge its batteries during daylight hours, ensuring that it can remain active and operational in the field for extended periods without needing frequent manual recharging.

In addition to its primary solar power source, the Prowler is equipped with redundant power generation systems to ensure continuous operation. One such system leverages kinetic energy harvesting, similar to bioelectricity power generation used in advanced Power Armor. As the Prowler moves and goes on patrols, it generates additional power through this system. The motion of its legs and body during walking and other movements is converted into electrical energy, which is then stored in its batteries. This supplementary power source provides an extra layer of reliability, allowing the Prowler to maintain its operational readiness even in environments with limited sunlight.

This combination of solar recharging and kinetic energy harvesting ensures that the Prowler remains an efficient and self-sustaining unit, capable of prolonged missions with minimal downtime. The dual power sources enhance the drone's versatility and resilience, making it a dependable asset for a wide range of surveillance and reconnaissance tasks.

Weapon Systems

As a security robot, the Prowler is equipped with an advanced weapons system, providing it with a range of capabilities to handle various threats. Its primary weapon is an Optic Laser, which is integrated into its visual sensors. This laser can be fired from the Prowler's optics, allowing it to engage targets with precision and accuracy. The dual functionality of the optics, serving both as sight and weapon, makes the Prowler highly efficient in identifying and neutralizing threats.

In addition to its optic laser, the Prowler is armed with side-mounted projectile launchers. These launchers are capable of shooting tranquilizer darts, which can incapacitate targets without causing permanent harm, making them ideal for non-lethal engagements. The launchers can also fire smoke grenades, providing a tactical advantage by creating visual obstructions or disorienting adversaries during operations.

For more precise targeting, the Prowler is equipped with turrets. These turrets enhance the drone's ability to engage targets accurately at various distances, ensuring that it can effectively neutralize threats with pinpoint precision.

For close-range defense, the Prowler features shock plates. These plates are designed to deliver powerful electric shocks to any hostile entity that comes into direct contact with the drone.
