Security Engineering and Logistics Solutions (SEL Solutions) is a small, worker owned, defense contractor founded by majority shareholder Michael Takahashi.

As their name implies, SEL Solutions offers a variety of Security, Engineering, and Logistics services. While SEL Solutions is a defense contractor who primarily contracts with the Star Army of Yamatai and various local jurisdictions, they are not, nor do they want to be a manufacturing juggernaut or maintain an army of tens of thousands of power armored security forces. Instead of competing with larger firms, they found their niche doing limited, bespoke contracts for high returns.

SEL Solutions was founded in YE 40 by Mike Takahashi and a group of friends, all former SAoY service members. They did not want to create a company where a few at the top dictated every aspect of a company and the lives of its employees. Instead they formed the company in a co-op model where the company shares were only given to employees and an employee’s rank determined their number of shares. Employees could combine their power to do things such as elect supervisors and set corporate policy. Most company affairs however are controlled by the board who are elected by the employees. While the number of votes an employee has is determined by the number of company shares they hold, the minimum and maximum number of shares concentrated among a rank is calculated to prevent high ranking employees from banding together to basically override the majority votes. Every eight quarters there are company wide votes for new board of directors.

Beyond their main offices, they also rent a group of small industrial buildings that they use for work spaces for fabrication and manufacturing. The industrial buildings also have a few warehouses. One has extra sound proofing and protective inner walls to work as an indoor range.

They also rent a few berths at the space port Port Jiyuu.

  • Handles administration, internal logistics, accounting, legal, HR, PR, internal security among other things
• Security Division
  • Provides the backbone for the security, research, and intelligence services they provide their clients.
• Engineering Division
  • Handles designing and fabricating various solutions for their clients and for internal use.
• Logistics Division
  • Handles shipping and acquisitions needs for various clients.

Security Division provides a variety of tailor made security solutions. These include investigative and research services, security assessments, training, and close protection and site security. Security Division is especially well known for their red team services.

Additionally, Security Division has staff who perform open-source intelligence(OSINT) collection and monitor events across the Kikyo Sector to produce security briefs for their clients.

Engineering Division generally handles limited design and manufacturing contracts. Their bread and butter are custom modifications. This generally means weaponizing civilian vehicles for military or paramilitary forces, but this can also include making specific modifications to vehicles and vessels(a single war ship, a fleet of small crafts, etc).

They are sometimes involved in the limited manufacture of licensed versions of specific weapons, often with modifications to the customer's desire. These might include utilizing lighter materials or a more readily available power source or ammunition type. For a steep premium they will do rebuilds on individual weapons.

While these contracts aren't as common, Engineering Division does have personnel who have civil engineering expertise, they however are often brought in to consult on security contracts.

Because of Engineering Division's specific skill set, they have developed a close relationship with organizations such as Star Army Special Operations, Yugumo Keisatsu, and the Yamatai National Police who are all regular customers for limited runs of specialized equipment built quickly.

SEL Solutions is not a bulk shipping company nor do they do continuous interplanetary transport. Instead Logistics Division handles important or dangerous runs generally of expensive cargo that requires speed. This branch also helps move whatever services the other two divisions need to provide a client. The Logistics Division also helps acquire hard to find products or equipment for clients, or baseline equipment for the Engineering Division to modify. Additionally, Logistics Division occasionally provides in theater transportation for clients.
