As Default's business grew, the opportunity to branch out into adjacent fields quickly presented itself. The company was building larger and larger construction equipment, but what about small ones? Not wanting to dilute its rising brand by having consumers associate their larger, heavy equipment with a screwdriver they might keep on their ship, the guild decided to create a subsidiary brand that would focus on smaller, less industrial tools.

Default's CEO, Markus Default, tapped his cousin and prominent Nepleslian contractor Dirk Manley to head up the new brand, even going so far as to name it after him to ensure the man's vested interest.

Of course, branding isn't everything. Markus' demand - and, subsequently, Dirk's - was that all of the tools they would produce would carry lifetime guarantees and be able to work in nearly any environment. “Whether someone wants to put some of that assemble-it-yourself home furniture together in Zero G or repair a broken bulkhead, I want us to be the tools they reach for!”

Manley holds no territory, but its offices can be found anywhere that Default has established itself.

Manley offers a full range of construction essentials, such as bits, screws, power tools, and more, all at reasonable prices. More sophisticated/larger equipment is sold by their parent company, Default Industrial Tools and Manufacturing.

All Manley tools have been designed to withstand high heat, individuals with exceptional strength, and for as much ease of use in low/zero G environments as possible. Tools feature loops for latching and/or magnetic surfaces to prevent them (or what they're being used on) from drifting away. Because of this, all Manley tools are sold as “Space (toolname)”, such that a screwdriver would be a Space Screwdriver, a hammer a Space Hammer, and so on.
