Terrus Terraforming extension module

:!: WIP: This article is a work in progress and is not yet approved for usage in the RP.

Originally designed as a patrol and defense vessel, this extension module allows the Vereticus to perform terraforming expeditionary tasks. It adds a specialist hull module containing a number of habitat modules, specialist sensors, re-enforced landing gear and software to ensure stability in high wind, high temperature and high pressure conditions.

The core concept is to mate the speed and communications of the Vereticus with its modularity, allowing the vessel to very quickly map – and ideally claim the surface of a world. Importantly, the Vereticus remains armed and able to defend itself – and its claim - since once terraforming is well underway, the craft remains a defensive asset to the colonization effort.

About

Important was the missile loading system on the Vereticus which is crucial to the Terrus package due to the high number of probes it will need to launch. In additon, the frame was already capable of landing on a planetoid and returning to orbit - something that merely needed to be fortified for rough landings.

It is also capable of both manned and unmanned expeditions – often with a large number of craft sent to a single world – and only one or two actually being manned.

Statistical Data

Propulsion

Inside the module

While a number of very minor changes are made to the operational areas of the ship, the biggest interior change comes in the form of an additional module mounted in the belly hardpoint.

Two-Stage airlock

While the vessel originally contained a conventional airlock, an extra stage is added which allows larger equipment (such as GENI) to disembark. Additionally, it contains both chemical and radiation based decontamination systems to ensure environmental containments are not brought onboard.

Survey area

Used to scan and identify the atmospheric and soil composition of a planet with direct sampling, equipment here is able to also identify any existing biological organisms.

Transmission Mast

Subtle alterations to the already incredibly powerful integrated engines and communications systems offers advanced subspace communications nessesary to transmit huge amounts of data. Common practice is to perform a geological survey, transmit the raw data for further research in simulation at a Lazarus or Lagrange mainframe and await instructions which provide schematics for ore and atmospheric processors specially designed for the specific atmosphere.

Micro Fabricator

Used to produce replacement components from processed materials for use in construction by the GENI. In addition, it doubles as an ore processor until a dedicated ore reprocessor can be assembled.

Equipment

Enhanced landing gear

Flight stabilization software
