NMX Type 31 Field Rations are inexpensive wartime rations produced by the millions and issued to NMX troops and starships as supplies for the Second Mishhuvurthyar War. Rations are typically produced on one of the major SMN farm worlds such as Higaflan or Omnom. They can be eaten by humanoid troops or by the Mishhuvurthyar themselves.

All of the items below are contained in a tan cloth bag with a spork symbol printed or drawn on it in black. The bags are also marked with the date and location of manufacture.

• 3 sausage patties (meat types vary¹⁾) in a can with easy-open lid
• 3 cornbread-based circular cookies with peanut, almond, or sesame toppings; vacuum wrapped
• Pickle, vacuum-sealed
• Hot sauce packet
• Fruit jelly, typically lemon or some sort of berry
• 3 multi-use tissues (can be used as napkins, toilet paper, etc)
• Small plastic spork

Soldiers are typically issued a mess kit that contains the following:

• Battery powered heater for sausage patty can
• Spoon, metal
• Water purification canister

The mess kit is contained in a cylindrical padded cloth container designed to be clamped on to a belt or backpack.

“Make your own rations” kits are available to NMX units and starships. Each kit contains enough supplies to make 30 rations. It is “bring your own meat.”
