CoreLink Neural Interface

The CoreLink Neural Interface is a new Neural Interface used by the Mining Guild since YE 46.

History

The CoreLink Neural Interface represents a pinnacle in mining technology, evolving from decades of innovation in alternate neural and communications technology such as the Geist Interface. Developed by the Mining Guild's leading engineers and outside neuroscientists in YE 46, the CoreLink system was designed to revolutionize mining operations, enhancing efficiency, safety, and communication within the guild's vast underground networks.

The CoreLink Neural Interface is a state-of-the-art system that integrates directly with a miner's neural pathways as well as those of the Night Guard Security1), allowing seamless control and communication with mining equipment and security equipment. This interface enables Operators to operate machinery, monitor environmental conditions, and communicate with team members through thought alone, vastly improving operational coordination and reducing physical strain.

Systems

The CoreLink Neural Interface is innovative and has a lot of systems for both Miner, Night Guard security, and Overseer use.

Communications

CoreLink's communication system allows for instantaneous, telepathic-like connections between miners and the central command. This ensures real-time updates and alerts, fostering a highly responsive and cohesive working environment. The neural interface also supports encrypted channels for sensitive communications.

Control Systems

The control systems within CoreLink provide Miners, Overseers, and Night Guard Security Officers with precise control over various mining equipment and robotic units. These systems are designed to be intuitive, reducing the learning curve and allowing miners to execute complex tasks with minimal physical movement.

Safety Net

Safety is paramount in mining operations, and the CoreLink Neural Interface includes an advanced Safety Net. This subsystem continuously monitors the miner's health and environmental conditions, automatically triggering emergency protocols if hazardous conditions are detected. It can also guide miners to the nearest safe zone in case of emergencies.

For Security Personnel

It's not just the Miners and Overseers who use the Neural Interface; the Night Guard Security personnel, responsible for protecting the Mining Guild, its staff, starships, and locations, also have access. The Security personnel have a higher level of control over the system and can lock down intrusions. They manage this through the Security Hub.

Security HUB

The Security HUB within the CoreLink system is dedicated to maintaining the security and integrity of the neural network. It monitors for unauthorized access attempts and potential threats, ensuring that the system remains secure from cyber intrusions and other malicious activities.

Unauthorized connections

Any attempt to connect to the CoreLink system without proper authorization is immediately flagged and investigated. The interface employs robust encryption and authentication protocols to prevent unauthorized access, safeguarding both the miners and the mining operations. Any minds not registered with the Mining Guild, will immediately cause the system to lock down, but the criminal won't be able to remove the interface, trapping their minds.

Realms

The CoreLink Neural Interface features multiple virtual reality zones, known as “Realms,” which users can access throughout the workday.

Safe Realms

Safe Realms are designated areas within the neural interface where miners can rest and recuperate. These virtual environments provide a mental respite from the physical demands of mining, promoting mental well-being and reducing fatigue. Additionally, the Safe Realm serves as a sanctuary for miners' minds if they become trapped underground and their ANT Power Armor systems fail. However, if they are operating from a Sentinel-class Control Frigate, their minds are returned to their physical bodies, separating from the robotic bodies they were controlling.

The Workshop

The Workshop is a specialized virtual realm designed for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues within the CoreLink system. Only authorized personnel can access this area, where they can diagnose and fix problems without disrupting the overall network.

The Dungeon

The Dungeon is a realm designated for criminals who attempt to steal Mining Guild equipment by using the Neural Interface and accessing the ANT Power Armor. When the system detects such an intrusion, it locks down and redirects their minds to this realm. Here, AI interrogates them and uses the neural connection to examine their memories, uncovering information about their associates and intentions.

Special Connections

The CoreLink Neural Interface is designed as an innovative, non-invasive method for controlling the Mining Guild's robotic RECORM Bots and ANT Power Armor. Unlike the New Dusk Conclave's Geist, it does not require invasive procedures but remains compatible with Geist, commonly used by NDC citizens in the Mining Guild. Future research aims to integrate the CoreLink with a Norian Symbiote, enabling the Norian species to control the armor. Additionally, plans include establishing connections with the Yamatai Star Empire's civilian PANTHEON and the Nekovalkyrja's SPINE interface, allowing Nekovalkyrja members to operate the system if they join the Mining Guild.
