Born and raised on Yamatai, Dylan always looked up to his older brother, Folant, much to his brother's constant dismay. When Folant changed his name to Valentine and joined the Star Army, recently after the Yamatai Star Empire formed in YE01, Dylan was dismayed, not being old enough to enlist. Four years passed and Dylan signed up for the navy, doing his best to catch up to Valentine, who had been assigned to a taskforce based in Nepleslia.
Trying to find his big brother while stuck on a ship proved to be aggravating for Dylan, who endeavored to get himself promoted to an officer as quickly as possible; climbing the ranks as fast as he could to impress his family and, more importantly, Valentine. As luck would have it, the young sailor literally ran into Valentine during shore leave. Spending their few days catching up and trading stories; Valentine had become a fighter jockey and now commanded his own wing, while Dylan had gained command of his first ship, one of new Sakura-Class Gunships. The two were quickly drawn back to their duties at the start of the Battle of Neplesia in YE26.
Ship life became much easier for Dylan since he now had the ability to communicate with Valentine; both of them deciding to follow Nepleslia in its seperation with Yamatai beginning in YE28, having found kindred spirits in the Nepleslians. Their parents disapproved of abandonning the Empire and Dylan stopped sending messages to them, but remained in contact with his now-married sister, Catrina. Dylan's idyllic world of brotherhood and comradery was shattered the next year when Valentine became a fatality during the start of the Kennewes Offensive in YE29.
Attending the funeral service for those lost during the Offensive, Dylan resumed contact with his parents, who were overjoyed, despite their grief, at their sons' accomplishments. Dylan spent his time available between missions spoiling his neices and nephew, like Valentine had loved to do, when Catrina visited, doing his best to remove the distance he had imposed on his family by running away from his heritage.
