The Home Mind Computer is a home computing device that allows a user to exercise their constitutional right to control, copy and alter their Soul Transfer backups while keeping their right to have that data be private from the government during the process.

In YE 44, a group of quantum computing students from a rural Yamataian world studied similar technologies to Soul Transfer, such as Nepleslian Brain Spiders. They were approached by a number of survivors from traumatic events which they wanted to be removed from their memories. However, these memories were allegedly of a degrading and potentially criminal nature that could result in loved ones going to jail, or result in blowback to the government workers amongst the group of survivors.

A virtuoso amongst the group of students managed by sheer luck to create a system for altering and copying Soul Transfer data. After some quiet inquiries as to the legalities of their technology, the plans and several test units were stolen from the students and taken to parts unknown.

The Home Mind Computer bears a resemblance to a tabletop computing system. It includes an electrode cap, as well as a mass storage device port.

One can connect a storage device and access or alter the data, usually taken on a mass storage device from a government-run ST clinic.
