The Volontany family was founded many years before Essia joined Yamatai. It's oldest members remember the time before Yamatai. The current patriarch is Anslen Volontany. Anslen was a blacksmith and budding industrialist when first contact occurred. Anslen's youngest daughter died while traveling to Nepleslia. Because of this, Anslen journeyed off world and eventually was elected senator by the conclave. During the occupation, much of his family was killed or sold into slavery. When he became aware that Iriss Zepheri was created using his DNA, he adopted her into his family.
