Hauptmann are different for each division of the Schirmherrschaft. In the Landwehr, they are Company Commanders. In the Luftwaffen, they are either Wing Commanders or command smaller Aerial Warships. In the Kriegsflotte, they are placed in command of small naval vessels.

However, in all divisions, Hauptmanns can be assigned to Field/Flag Officers as Chiefs of Staff.
