The highest level of enlisted man that hasn't been designated as a Non-Commissioned Officer, a Hauptlegionaer is sometimes considered an Infantry Squad's Executive Officer. If a Squad has to be divided into 5-person Fire Teams¹⁾, the Hauptlegionaer will command one while the Alterhauptlegionaer commands the other.
