A minor conduit to The Fae, the hacking commlink is an electronic countermeasure and electronic warfare weapon used by the Shasta No Sekai corporation and by the Terror Wolf Project in its mechs as a way to attack and defend from enemy electronics in combat.

Designed in YE 44 as an outlet for mechs with a connection to The Fae, the HLC is used as a passive/active electronic countermeasure system to prevent hacking of electronic systems, missile locks, and interference with a mechs systems as well as those within close proximity of the host mech. The HCL itself has always been a feature of any of the corporations mecha due to the Fairy AI themselves but by using a direct outlet it was designed to further enhance their offensive and defensive cyber abilities.

The hacking commlink is a two-pronged system managed by a mechs Fairy Ai. One is its active mode where where the HVL is directly targeted at an area or specific target and will attempt to scramble the jammers of an enemy's systems, disrupt their functions, hack them, shut them down, or any other number of systems offensively or defensively. This is achieved by opening an active connection to the Fae and allowing the fairies within to openly target and attempt to breach a targets systems. This outlet is not as effective as a full cyberattack due to the limited processing power allowing a very finite amount of data compared to the macro-AI that is the Fae world itself.

The second, passive defensive aspect works on the mech with an HLC installed and those closest to it. Using this method creates a connection to the mech and those closest to it and attempts to passively screen the mecha from cyberattacks without needing to be activated. This method uses the fairies of the mech and those it are linked to as well as those in close proximity such as currently controlling drones or systems making the defense proportional to the amount of active Fairy nearby.
