DracoTown Visitor’s Center

The Dracotown Visitor’s Center the second stop to newcomers to Draco Eridanus System.

About the Visitor’s Center

The Dracotown Visitor Center serves as the primary point of entry for newcomers to Dracotown, located on the habitation deck of Station Omacron. This facility is essential for individuals seeking residency within Dracotown and the greater Draco Eridanus System.

A central feature of the center is its registration area, where visitors can access a digital terminal to sign in and officially register as citizens of the Draco Eridanus System. In addition to its administrative functions, the Visitor Center offers temporary accommodations for those unable to afford hotel stays or secure immediate housing, ensuring a supportive environment for newcomers transitioning to life on Station Omacron.

The Visitor's center offers visitors information on the system, and the city, and offers those seeking employment access to information that will help them in this endeavor. This is to aid in integrating newcomers into the system, and for those seeking medical aid, the center offers to pay for any medical expenses. This is to perform its job as a support hub for visitors to the system.

History

In the middle of YE 41, the Mining Guild, with the assistance of scouts from the New Dusk Conclave, made a significant discovery—the system that would later be named Draco Eridanus System. At the time of its discovery, the system was notable primarily for its vast and resource-rich asteroid field. Recognizing the potential of these untapped resources, the newly-formed Mining Guild saw the system as an ideal foundation for their operations and future expansion.

The Mining Guild began its operations in an area of the system known as Sector A, where they commenced large-scale asteroid mining. These efforts provided the raw materials necessary to construct Station Omacron, the Guild's first significant foothold in Draco Eridanus. Within the habitation sector of Station Omacron, the Guild established DracoTown, a meticulously planned city that would serve as the capital and cultural hub of the system.

During the development of DracoTown, the Mining Guild made the strategic decision to construct the DracoTown Visitor Center. Recognizing that the city's future success depended on its ability to attract and integrate new residents, the Visitor Center was designed as a support hub for newcomers. It provided essential services such as registration for citizenship in the Draco Eridanus System, temporary accommodations for those unable to secure immediate housing, and assistance in settling into the growing community.

The establishment of the Visitor Center not only showcased the Mining Guild’s commitment to fostering a welcoming environment but also played a crucial role in shaping DracoTown into a thriving and inclusive capital for the system.

YE 46

In late YE 46, the Kurosaki siblings—Astrid Kurosaki, Aeta Kurosaki, and Vilkas—undertook a thorough review of Cobaltvale, a prominent residential district on Sirris VI predominantly housing employees of the Mining Guild. The purpose of this initiative was to assess the living conditions of their workforce, ensuring that employees and their families were living comfortably and that their needs were adequately met. This review demonstrated the siblings' commitment to employee welfare, aligning with the Guild’s broader goals of fostering a supportive and sustainable work environment.

Once the inspection of Cobaltvale was completed to their satisfaction, the siblings shifted their focus to Station Omacron and specifically the DracoTown Visitor Center. Recognizing the central role the Visitor Center played in integrating newcomers into the system, they set out to enhance its functionality and ensure it continued to serve as an effective support hub.

Each sibling brought their expertise to the project Aeta Kurosaki, leveraging her technical acumen, concentrated on evaluating and upgrading the Center’s systems. This included ensuring the registration terminals operated efficiently, optimizing communication networks, and addressing any technical shortcomings that could hinder the Center’s operations.

Vilkas Kurosaki, with his background in security, reviewed and reinforced safety protocols at the Center. Although DracoTown was a notably safe city, Vilkas aimed to ensure that the Visitor Center upheld the highest standards of safety for both staff and visitors, anticipating potential issues and mitigating risks.

Astrid Kurosaki, focusing on logistics and operational support, worked to ensure the Visitor Center staff had all the resources and supplies they needed. This included streamlining supply chains, addressing staffing requirements, and ensuring that the facility could handle fluctuations in visitor numbers effectively. Through their combined efforts, the Kurosaki siblings reinforced the importance of the Visitor Center as a cornerstone of DracoTown’s community infrastructure, solidifying its role as a welcoming and reliable resource for all newcomers to the Draco Eridanus System.

DracoTown Visitor’s Center

The DracoTown Visitor Center is designed as a spacious, open-concept facility, constructed primarily of durable metal, reflecting the industrial aesthetic of Station Omacron while integrating elements of comfort and tranquility.

Main Area

The central feature of the Visitor Center is a geyser-inspired fountain, located near the entrance. This large fountain serves as a focal point, surrounded by landscaped greenery, including grass and several shade-providing trees. This area offers a serene environment, ideal for relaxation or leisure activities such as reading, with the gentle sound of flowing water enhancing the ambiance.

Seating and Accessibility

Ample seating is provided throughout the main area, with numerous benches arranged to accommodate social gatherings and personal reflection. Specialized seating areas are included to ensure accessibility for hoverchair users, allowing them to sit comfortably with friends or family, underscoring the center’s commitment to inclusivity.

Visual and Natural Light Features

The walls of the Visitor Center are equipped with large displays projecting views of space, creating an immersive experience. Additionally, windows offer clear views of DracoTown, allowing natural and artificial light to brighten the interior while visually connecting the facility to the city it serves.

Administration Offices

At the southern end of the Visitor Center, a staircase leads to the administrative offices, where visitors can access services such as citizen registration and other official functions. This section also houses the room assignment offices, catering to individuals or families utilizing the Visitor Center's temporary accommodations rather than staying in nearby hotels.

Center Signing Station

The Signing Station is a dedicated area within the DracoTown Visitor Center where visitors are required to sign in upon arrival. This system enables the government of the Draco Eridanus System to maintain accurate population records and track the arrival of new individuals to the station.

By distinguishing between permanent residents and temporary visitors, such as tourists, the Signing Station ensures efficient administrative management. This process supports the system's infrastructure planning, resource allocation, and security measures, contributing to the orderly growth and operation of Station Omacron and its capital, DracoTown

Room Assignment Board

The Room Assignment Board is a designated area within the DracoTown Visitor Center where visitors can access temporary accommodations provided by the facility. This service is primarily intended for individuals or families who require short-term housing and are unable or prefer not to stay in nearby hotels.

The Room Assignment Board facilitates the allocation of available rooms, ensuring that visitors have a comfortable place to stay while they transition to permanent housing or complete their visit to Station Omacron. This feature underscores the Visitor Center's role in supporting newcomers and fostering an inclusive and accommodating environment.

Hallways

The hallways of the DracoTown Visitor Center are constructed from polished marble stone sourced from the asteroids surrounding Station Omacron, reflecting the Mining Guild's use of locally obtained materials. The ceilings feature a rounded arch design, ensuring ample clearance for even the tallest species to navigate comfortably.

The walls are adorned with intricate inlays of silver embedded into the darker gray marble, creating an elegant contrast and showcasing skilled craftsmanship. The light fixtures, designed in the style of traditional candlesticks, provide a blend of classic aesthetics and modern functionality by utilizing electricity to illuminate the hallways.

The flooring is crafted from white marble, further enhancing the luxurious atmosphere. A central decorative inlay, featuring an ornate design, runs along the length of the hallway, adding a refined and artistic element to the space. This attention to detail emphasizes the Mining Guild's dedication to creating a welcoming and sophisticated environment for visitors.

Balcony Entrance

At each junction in the hallways of the DracoTown Visitor Center, steps provide access to balconies located outside the main structure. These balconies offer visitors a vantage point to view DracoTown, enhancing their experience with scenic perspectives.

The lighting in these junctions differs from the rest of the hallways, featuring a warmer, yellow-toned hue. This distinct illumination creates a softer, more inviting atmosphere, distinguishing the junctions from the cooler, more formal lighting of the main hallways. The design ensures a seamless transition between the interior spaces and the outdoor balconies.

Balcony

The balconies surrounding the DracoTown Visitor Center are constructed from the same polished marble stone used in the hallways, maintaining a cohesive and elegant architectural style. These outdoor spaces are designed to provide ample seating, mirroring the comfort and accessibility of the main areas within the building.

Specialized seating areas ensure inclusivity by accommodating hoverchair users, allowing them to sit comfortably alongside friends and family. This design highlights the center’s commitment to accessibility and social inclusiveness.

From the balconies, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of DracoTown and its surroundings. Additionally, the balconies offer a unique vantage point of the sky projection feature, an advanced display system that allows residents and visitors to observe the breathtaking nebula visible above the city, blending natural beauty with technological innovation.

Visitor’s Rooms

The Visitor Rooms at the DracoTown Visitor Center are designed to provide both comfort and elegance for those utilizing the facility's temporary accommodations.

Each room opens into a seating area, allowing guests to rest after extended periods of activity. The seating is crafted from white marble, intricately inlaid with gold in a specific ornate pattern that complements the elaborate decorations on the walls and ceiling, creating a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere.

The bedrooms are designed with luxury and practicality in mind. While marble stone is used for consistency with the center's aesthetic, careful attention is given to ensuring comfort, with furnishings and amenities tailored to accommodate the diverse needs of various species. For example, warm-blooded species will find the rooms and seating areas heated to provide a cozy environment, while other species' specific requirements are similarly addressed.

Bathrooms

Each bedroom in the DracoTown Visitor Center is equipped with a private ensuite bathroom, designed for both comfort and practicality.

The bathrooms feature a soft, eye-friendly color temperature in their lighting, creating a relaxing and visually comfortable environment. The layout includes a sink with a built-in medicine cabinet containing essentials such as toothbrushes and toothpaste for guests who may not have brought their own. A concealed toilet, positioned discreetly beside the sink for privacy. A shower located within a barrier, ensuring both functionality and convenience. The flooring is crafted from polished white marble, harmonizing with the aesthetic of the rest of the Visitor Room. Fixtures, such as the sink and shower fittings, are finished in chrome, adding a modern and elegant touch. Additionally, a cabinet is provided for storing extra towels, toiletries, and other necessities, ensuring guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay.
