BW-KAS "Hailstorm"

The Hailstorm is a kinetic rail shotgun designed, and built by Section 6 in mid-YE 40. It is designed to give measurable firepower in close quarters, or situations that require crowd control. It is fielded by the USO, and Section 6, as well as being sold commercially for civilian use. However, it's been grandfathered into use by the New Dusk Conclave, and produced by Black Wing Enterprises now.

About the Hailstorm

The S6-KAS was designed and built in mid-YE 40 when Section 6 realized SABER needed a close quarters weapon with considerable fire power, even for armored targets. So the weapons department got together and came up with the Hailstorm, a kinetic rail shotgun that fires steel balls at high velocity. Capable of taking down armored, and unarmored targets alike.

Weapon Mechanisms

  • Firing Mechanism: Magnets pull steel balls from the magazine cartridge and into the firing chamber, where they are launched down the barrel by kinetic rails.
  • Loading: Cartridges which contain the steel ball ammunition and the power cell, are loaded into the underside of the stock.
  • Mode Selector: A ambidextrous switch is locate just above the trigger, on either side, and can switch between safe, semiauto, and full auto.
  • Firing Modes: Semi-automatic where the weapon fires with every trigger pull, and full-auto where the weapon continuously fires as long as the trigger is held down.
  • Safety Mechanism: Safety setting on the fire mode selector.
  • Weapon Sight: the weapon is aimed using the deafault weapon iron sights, or volumetric smart sight.
