Nishant Tripathi is an NPC controlled by GM Firebrand. He is the Commanding Officer of of the marine contingent aboard NSS Highlander. Nicknamed The Old Man, he is beloved by his veteran marines, though is a bit miffed about being placed on an expeditionary warship.

Nishant Tripathi is a long time career marine, and has served in every conflict that Nepleslia has been in. Despite that, his personality and appearance don't quite match up with his record. Still, those who have served under him for any length of time speak reverently about him, and have faith in him.

Nishant is actually a kindly man in his late 40's. He's likeable and easy to get along with, honest to a fault and adapts well to new situations. That said, he's also fairly solemn and quiet and has an almost depressive quality to him: he's seen his fair share of marines die under him, and thinks of them as he would his children. Despite the everpresent, almost shy smile on his face, Its hard to get a read on his emotions if one isn't truly that close to him.

Looks wise, Nishant is a middle aged Nepleslian man, and absolutely does not look the way a Marine should. He's only 5'8“, with tan skin and freckles. His face is angular, with a big nose, narrow lips, and large brown eyes; his thick and slightly graying brown hair is cut short in a caesar style, with a receding hairline helping hint at his age. His build is especially not very “Stereotypical Marine”: He has slanted shouldrs and short arms, a thin torso with bony hips, and spindly legs that make him look almost like a desk clerk more than a Marine Lieutenant.

Nishant Tripathi has a long, well decorated history in the Nepleslian Space Marine Corps with numerous combat deployments. He has a wife, who has long since accepted the difficulties of military life, and two children, both boys, who are 19 and 17 respectively. Both have, of course, joined the military.
