Build and Skin Color: He is very well built, with muscle definition slightly greater in size and tone than the average Minkan. His skin is a mid-brown, with its hue and saturation giving it a rosy, warm quality.

Eyes and Facial Features: His eyes have the almond shape common among Yamataians: they are narrow and taper as they slightly angle up toward the outside. His irises are a very dark brown. He has a strong jaw line and broad chin, with high, pronounced cheekbones and a broad nose. His ears are the standard human-Minkan type.

Hair Color and Style: His hair is black and if grown out forms very tight curls. However, he keeps it buzzed extremely short most of the time.

Distinguishing Features: It is not one feature but rather his overall appearance that is distinct. His eyes and cheek structure are typically Yamataian, but his height, skin color, and nose mark him out as different from the average of the Minkan population.

Personality: Weizhi is a serious but kind person. He often has a smile on his face and is unfailingly polite. However, he is also highly sensitive to unspoken attitudes and prejudices, almost to a fault. This does not mean he is quick to get defensive about perceived slights to himself, but rather to come to the aid - whether necessary or not - of others. That tendency is the main part of his personality ruled by his emotions rather than his intellect. He is otherwise primarily rational, conscientious, and scrupulous.

Song Weizhi bears a name and an appearance that marks him out as different from the majority of people in his Empire. Yamatai is not an intolerant place, but nonetheless such marked differentiation cannot go unnoticed. Form a young age he was cognizant of this and so strove to make himself special by virtue of things under his control rather than by genetic lottery. Athletically, he found his home in his school track club, competing in 100- and 200-meter sprint events. At the same time, he excelled academically, ranking near the top of his classes. While reticent for much of his younger years, Weizhi found himself becoming very outgoing, frequenting parties and other outings particularly during his college years.

The year of his graduation seemed like a flawless start to the rest of his life. He married his longtime girlfriend, was admitted before the Bar, and began practicing as an attorney. The next three years were not so great. The reality of clerking for corporate litigators was far removed from his passion for equality and justice rooted in law. Grinding out briefs and memos he found no ethical or intellectual merit in ate away at him and at his home life. His wife, a medical student at the time, tried her best to be supportive and caring, but Weizhi was stubbornly unable to admit there was a problem. With her own life and career to think about, and making no progress at getting Weizhi to work to improve things, she asked for a divorce.

The shock woke him from his self-denial: he had failed. Rather than leading him into depression, the admission allowed him to finally work to improve his life. He reached out to apologize to and make amends with his now ex-wife and he quit his job. His passion and interest in the law remained, but for the time being he was burned out on the actual practice. In the meantime, he wanted to find a way to get a new perspective on life and to go very far away from his old mistakes.

Joining the crew of the Sakishima just in time for Yule celebrations, Weizhi found himself more than a little surprised by the behavior of his new comrades. He didn't find their activities and bearings distasteful, but rather totally unlike what he thought military life would entail. Despite being welcomed warmly by the whole crew and the Captain, he couldn't quite make himself totally at ease. Still, he found himself enjoying being a part of the group and finding no little amusement in their antics.

Then, en route to Leo Star Fortress, the ship was set upon by unknown aliens and the crew was imprisoned inside a drug induced dream. Though the experience didn't last all that long, it obviously affected everyone deeply - including Weizhi. But having escaped from the aliens' clutches, being debriefed on SAINT, and informed that the whole situation was classified, Weizhi chose to cleave to a rigidly legalistic interpretation of their orders and not talk about the event at all; effectively, he wasn't thinking about or considering the ramifications of it either.
