Why does he have to complain out loud? Charley thought to herself as the two Nepleslians continued to argue like a married couple. Reflexively, the Jiyuuianchecked her screens for targets, one hand stroking the joystick that controlled the turret of the tank, while the other grasped a plain necklace that laid on her chest next to her dog tags. Soon baby, we’ll get our revenge soon.

“There aren’t any Squids out there, Ozzie,” Charley said, her eyes fixed on her screens.

Ugh…all the lasers are blocked by infantry… Charly inwardly groaned, it would take at least two seconds of fire to clear lines of sight. She shook her head in disgust. Just because they’re Nepleslians doesn’t mean they’re worthless. They’re your comrades now. Treat them like it.

At the same time, Ice Queen tensed at the crash of thunder, her eyes flitting across her screens, trying to find an enemy to kill. Where are they? Where are the Squids? It’s Tange all over again.

Ozzie dealt with the driver first. “Turn down the gain on the monoeyes,” he shouted over the headset. “I know I said to turn it up earlier, you can say I told you so later.” Leaving Deacon to mutter darkly over the comms, the Sergeant looked at his gunner. “Are you okay? It was just lightning.”

She blinked, then slowly nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“What do you call naked Marines?” Earthquake asked.

“A war crime?” Deacon asked.

“A peep show?” Ozzie asked.

This depends highly on the sexual orientation of the Marines involved… Ice Queen thought.

“Nope, a Corpsicle!” the ID-SOL said, grinning from ear to ear.

“Roger,” theJiyuuianreplied, her eyes glued to her screens, once she put on her own rebreather.

“Nice shot, Ice Queen,” he said, patting Charly on the back.

The Jiyuuian nodded back, looking for more targets. Let’s show these Squids what I’m made of.

Ice Queen’s eyes stayed on her screen, but her brow furrowed as she aimed and fired another round of HESH at the Squids. “What? Are you finally going to give me AP rounds to shoot, sir?”

“Not too many,” the Jiyuuianresponded absent-mindedly, carefully lining up her next shot. “Hopefully these new rounds will do the trick.”

“You’re telling me?” Ice Queen replied, turning the tank’s turret to sweep the area. “I’m relying on the turret monoeye. As far as I can tell though,” the Jiyuuan continued as she looked in the tank’s blind spot, “all the Flayers are down.”
