The Aether battery is a device developed by Psychopomp LLC in YE 42. It was created in order to provide the same power of am aether reactor while minimizing its size into a more compact form.

Development for the battery was started in YE 39 after Psychopomp had acquired an intact aether reactor from a ruined starship following the Kuvexian war. After this most of the company's budget and manpower from its power department was put into a way to miniaturized the device for their Silverback suit. In YE 41 they had managed to make a stable version that could be used and met the egregious power requirement of the suit although they discovered that due to its housing, while not allowing the dangerous aether to escape, could also not produce more of its own aether or gather more from its surrounding environment and so therefore had to be “refueled” after a set amount of time.

The housing is made up of a tungsten alloy that provides minimal protection to the housing in exchange for great heat protection and a compensation for the great amount of heat that the aether inside gives off. The battery cannot produce or obtain its own aether and must be “refueled through a system of pipes that are connected to the device to replenish its aether supply.

The size of the battery ranges from 1 to 3 feet in diameter and 2 to 6 feet in length. Its housing is made up of an alloy of several metals with tungsten being the main component to safely contain the volatile substance within it is unpainted and has a dark silver coloration to it.
