Static Pulse Armor

The static pulse armor is a system of armor treatment designed for the NAM Terratech Multi-Role Cavalry Armor-"Nomad" as one of its armor Nomad Hardpoint Options. The armors function uses a surface charge to absorb and transfer the energy of laser and plasma weapons across the surface of the armor before releasing a pulse of electromagnetic energy.

Description

Not specifically the armor itself but an underlying system the armor installs sensors and probes at dedicated points across the surface of the armor and, when struck by various types of hostile energies absorbs the surface energy and transfers it throughout the outer surface of the armor like rain on a windshield before dissipating it harmlessly. The system is latently charged by the NAM Antimatter Battery of the suit and as such overwhelm the energy forces in a localized area with excited antimatter. It is not a surefire system, however, and is only intended to take damage that passes through a shield as multiple follow-up strikes from any source will overwhelm the armor's ability to mitigate damage.

When energy is passing through the armor after an attack it is collected and dispersed around the surface of the armor. What happens when the electromagnetic pulse flashes is not damaging to any nearby electronics but instead immediately flashes like a camera stutter and reduces followup energy attacks until it dissipates a moment later. When viewed through an electronic optic or system it will appear as though the armor is flashing infrared lights like a camera with a rapid flashing stutter.

As such the system should not be relied on heavily in a fight and is instead just a safety net for stray damage allowing the pilot to move to safety or away from the oncoming fire for a brief moment. The armor does, however, have the latent effect of being able to channel energy forces making it a safer option to pass through waves of infrared or hostile energies compared to without.

The anti-energy armor does not work against kinetic, concussive, sonic, explosive, or aether.
